The Magic City’s trajectory this season is a prime example of a comeback story. Initially, the club was struggling to find its footing in the season, but as they did they have been destroying big clubs like the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, etc. Even though their squad was plagued with injuries and their star player Jimmy Butler had been out of action for 17 games, the Heat showed their resilience and did not let it affect their performances. However, with the trade deadline approaching, the Heat have a chance to strengthen their squad and increase their chances of earning a fourth ring.
So, according to rumors, the Heat is potentially interested in poaching Tyus Jones who has been a Los Angeles Lakers target for a while. ESPN writer Zach Lowe revealed in his podcast that, “There are some Washington-Miami possibilities like Tyus Jones or a Shamet.”
On the Lowe Post, he also stated how the Heat have shown their dominance in the league. He said that they have beaten the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs recently, as well as the Celtics twice in the last four seasons.

“The Heat to me…they’re not scared of [the Celtics, Bucks & 76ers]. They’re deeper than they were last year. If I’m them I might take a shot at one more guy who’s like a starter-level guy. And lastly, they have even destroyed the Milwaukee Bucks twice in the playoffs due to which the Bucks even fired their coach and made a franchise-altering trade. So, “the Heat are not scared of any of these guys,” and due to that, they want to go after one of the best backup point guards in the NBA, Tyus Jones even though he had been a Laker target for a while.

Lakers vs. Heat – who will secure Tyus Jones?
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat appear to be competing to sign Tyus Jones from the Washington Wizards. The Lakers were initially connected to Zach LaVine, but new rumors indicate that option is doubtful. However, the acquisitions of Jones or Sexton may be big boosts for the Lakers, propelling them from a 500-win team to a top Western Conference contender.

On the other hand, the Miami Heat are recognizing the need for a natural point guard and an added playmaker. So, according to them, Jones will be a perfect fit for their roster and hypothetically they could involve trading Kyle Lowry’s expiring contract, as well as draft selections, to acquire him and increase their chances at a fourth ring. So whether Jones ends up in Los Angeles or Miami, his potential influence on either team might be critical in the chase of a title.
