Injuries are a part of contact sports, especially since most involve athletes running at each other while another attempts to shield the ball. Well, Ja Morant was unlucky in this regard. The Memphis Grizzlies star was injured in the third quarter against the New Orleans Pelicans, spending the rest of the game on the bench.
Running into a legal screen from the Pelicans’ Daniel Theis, Morant injured his shoulder. Ja has been out ever since, not playing a single game in the new year. Though now there may be a glimmer of hope.
The Memphis Grizzlies account on X posted an update on the injuries within the team. Ja Morant has been upgraded to “QUESTIONABLE” ahead of the Grizzlies’ match against the Houston Rockets. Morant fans will be breathing a sigh of relief, seeing as Ja has been out of the squad for the last 5 games.

Still, Morant’s injury situation must be somewhat concerning for a few. After all, he suffered a torn labrum in the same shoulder last season. Moreover, Ja has already missed 8 games consecutively this season due to various nagging injuries. And despite the improvement in his injury status, he only remains probable for the game against the Houston Rockets.
Having Ja on the court against the likes of Jalen Green and Co. would be a huge boost to the Grizz. But how do these teams and their best players stack up on paper?

The upcoming game between the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies is really close. Both teams have the same number of wins in the NBA this season. Albeit, ‘The Volunteer State’ does have one more loss than the Rockets. This is reflected on the Western Conference table as Houston and Memphis are second and third, respectively.
The Rockets’ lead scorer, Jalen Green is in tremendous form this season, averaging 20.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Green also seems to have a penchant for scoring against the Grizzlies. With two 30+ point games against them in his last five, he averages 18.9 points versus the Grizzlies all-time.
On the other side of the court, Ja Morant is no slouch against the Rockets. He averages 20.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists against them. Ja Morant evidently likes to play against the Rockets!

In head-to-head competition, the teams are fairly even with the Grizzlies having a slight 6-4 lead in the last 10 matchups. Although, the Rockets have outdone their Tennessee rivals recently, winning four out of five games. With so little separating these two, anything could be the difference maker. Given Ja Morant’s questionable status, his playing would likely be the Grizzlies’ path to victory.
But the question looms large: will Ja Morant help his team pull one over the Rockets tomorrow?
