Can the Warriors survive without Curry, or is their playoff dream already slipping away?

“He’s obviously sprained the ankle many times before, so he doesn’t think it’s too bad. But obviously, you know, it’s a concern,” said Steve Kerr, as the biggest talking point came when Stephen Curry injured his ankle. With Klay gone, Curry’s miss causes the team to sweat on his fitness. Simply put, he is crucial to the Golden State Warriors’ success. He suffered a lower-leg muscle strain which will keep him out for two weeks. Despite his $69.99 Zamst A2-DX ankle brace.

The team announced on Monday that he suffered from a left peroneal strain – tendons behind the ankle during the Warriors’ loss to the Clippers. Curry left the game with an apparent issue on his ankle. What caused the injury to get serious was when he returned to help the team and aggravated the injury.

Without the 2x MVP, Golden State’s hopes of reaching the playoffs could fall apart. But don’t worry. There is an update from a medical expert. Dr. Nirav Pandya, Professor of UCSF Orthopedic Surgery, demonstrated the entire cause of the injury on his X account.

He described the muscle injury perfectly by stating, “Basically, the peroneal muscles will run behind the fibula, kind of loop around the Lateral malleolus and they go underneath the foot. They help to plantar fasciitis in either of the foot.” This strain becomes common for basketball players, due to all the rigors they go through while making jump shots or rebounding.

Dr. Nirav Pandya continued, Now the reason why these can get hurt when someone twists their ankle is you can imagine if you invert your ankle. Basically, those tendons and muscles get stretched out. So as a result, even if there may not be an injury to the ligaments of the ankle, those muscles will sometimes get stretch out and you get a strain.”

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Warriors survive without Curry, or is their playoff dream already slipping away?

Have an interesting take?

But there is promising news for Warriors fans. You don’t need to worry about the timeline. Stephen Curry might be back soon after all.

Good news for Stephen Curry fans regarding the peroneal strain!

The doctor continued, “The good news is that this is a relatively mild strain, and other is no previous irritation in this area and this can typically be a couple of days recovery process.” The doctors took an MRI after the game and with no structural damage, Dr. Nirav Pandya’s golden words couldn’t come anytime soon. Just like a regular ankle injury recovery process, the player can return in two ways, according to the doctor:

  1. If the ankle can have a full range of motion and the player can twist without any pain
  2. If your ankle feels steady, and you can firmly plant your feet without discomfort or wobbling.

Yet one questions Curry’s ankle braces. What’s the purpose of having an expensive ankle brace if it can’t stabilize your ankles?

Curry’s ankle brace, Zamst A2-Dx, prevents the ankle from rolling and his foot from sliding forward due to its sturdy design. Having a precise brace to solidify your ankle must be necessary for Curry, who easily wriggles past his opponents. Imagine the pressure to perform all those dribbles on your knees. Consequently, Curry used these braces for some time now.

ZAMST X-straps are used in braces to enhance stability in three areas of the ankle: front, side, and inner. But it didn’t do justice for Curry and the Warriors. Hopefully, we can see him back in action. The Golden State Warriors will play a doubleheader against the New Orleans Pelicans. From what we could understand, Curry will miss those games and could return for the clash against the Houston Rockets.
