After a month of drama in Miami, Jimmy Butler finally looks happy again—this time, rocking a Warriors jersey. While some doubted how he’d fit alongside Stephen Curry and Co., Butler has wasted no time shutting down the skeptics. Winning five of his first six games? Yeah, that’ll do it.
More than just wins, Jimmy has injected belief into this Warriors squad, making them feel like a championship run isn’t just a dream—it’s possible. Right now, it’s all sunshine and rainbows in the Bay Area. But here’s the real question—can this last? Not everyone’s convinced. Veteran journalist Steve Aschburner? He’s got his doubts.
While Butler’s first few weeks in Golden State have felt nothing short of a dream, Steve called it a mere “honeymoon” phase. Aschburner revealed his thoughts on the Steiny & Guru Show, he warned the Bay Area franchise of Jimmy’s true nature, “Enjoy the honeymoon… Are you gonna believe what he says about the 5th wife or are you gonna believe with what he says about the 4 other wives?… He sorta burns through relationships.”

In this case, ‘wife’ refers to the multiple teams Butler has been a part of over the course of his career. Although his tenure always starts on a positive note full of hope, Jimmy’s relationship with his teams eventually fall apart.
Jimmy Butler’s time with the Timberwolves? Yeah, that was a rollercoaster. It didn’t take long for him to grow frustrated with the team’s young core, and he wasn’t shy about letting them know it.
Then came the turning point—after rejecting a four-year extension, Butler didn’t waste any time. He wanted out, and he made sure everyone knew it. But the icing on the cake was the infamous practice session after the trade request where Jimmy openly called out GM Scott Layden after dominating the team’s starters in a scrimmage, “You f—— need me, Scott. You can’t win without me.”
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jimmy Butler the missing piece for the Warriors, or just another short-lived honeymoon phase?
Have an interesting take?
Jimmy Butler’s time with the Heat? A classic case of all good… until it wasn’t. Sure, he led them to two NBA Finals, cementing his legacy in Miami. But behind the scenes, things got messy.
His relationship with Pat Riley and the front office soured, leading to a trade demand—and eventually, an indefinite suspension for violating team policies. The drama dragged on until the Warriors swooped in and brought him to the Bay. Now? Things are clicking. But for how long?
Steve Aschburner isn’t buying the honeymoon phase, predicting turbulence ahead. The Warriors, though? They’re too busy hooping to care about the outside noise.

Draymond Green is NOT trying to “Fight” Jimmy Butler’s presence as Steve Kerr cannot stop obsessing over him
Although his history says otherwise, its not fair to make assumptions until things actually go south between Butler and the Warriors. As of now, he looks like a solid addition who has given a newfound energy to the whole roster. Sure enough, he has turned Steve Kerr into a fan, who recently revealed his experience of coaching Butler, “I think you have to really see him every day to appreciate his game because he’s not your traditional superstar who’s lighting it up from (three-point range) or wowing you with highlights; it’s really just the efficiency of his game. He’s incredibly sound fundamentally.”

Since the trade, Jimmy is averaging a solid 20 points per game. But what’s impressed everyone the most is his ability to protect the ball as he rarely commits a turnover and gets to the free-throw line. Kerr continued, “We’ve always been at our best with high-IQ guys around Steph and Draymond, and that’s what I’m seeing with Jimmy… That’s what he’s doing right now, making the game simpler for everybody, and he’s getting us easier shots and our defense has been really good. And as a result, we’ve got more confidence, more momentum.”

Meanwhile, Draymond also believes that Butler’s personality is built to have immediate impact, “Jimmy has that presence where you feel like you need to fit in around him. You don’t have to make him fit in. And when a guy has that type of presence, this isn’t a place where anyone tries to fight that.” So, while the Warriors have been warned about the potential fallout with Jimmy, they seem to have complete faith in the six-time All-Star as he continues to help them win games. “It feels right. It feels like things are clicking.” Kerr added. Do you think this is just a honeymoon phase or Jimmy can truly turn the Warriors to title contenders?
