The Dallas Mavericks recently faced off against the Denver Nuggets. Despite a strong opposition from players like Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., the Mavericks were able to hold their own offensively. MVP contender Luka Doncic led the charge with his 37 points, while Kyrie Irving followed behind with his 24. With the score tied 105-105 during the final few seconds, Kyrie Irving shocked both his teammates and NBA fans as he rose over Nikola Jokic and ended up delivering an insane left-hand floater hook to not only gain 2 additional points but also secure the win for their team.
During the post-game conference, Luka Doncic was asked about the game-winning shot. The Slovenian player couldn’t help but let out a smile as he replied “That shot is unbelievable, man. I couldn’t believe it. I was there on the baseline. I just couldn’t believe it”.

Doncic was more impressed that such a shot was made when facing off against the team that is currently ranked as the 2 seed on the points table. When asked if Doncic could ever imagine going through a game and not having a break, the player replied “I wouldn’t be able to do it”.
Fans had a sense of Luka Doncic’s disbelief and joy even before he highlighted the same during his press conference. When Irving made the shot, the 25-year-old couldn’t help but clench his hands on his forehead, crouch below the hoop, and bring out the biggest smile that he could muster on his face. His celebration didn’t end there, as Doncic later proceeded to head off to where Irving was and proceeded to give him a warm embrace. Given that he not only pulled off a rare feat but also helped the Mavericks not fall further down the points table, Irving deserved all the praise that he received and more.

Kyrie Irving credits Luka Doncic for his game-winning shot
Given what he recently pulled off, Kyrie Irving knew that he was probably going to be the center of attention during the post-game press conference. Despite this, the Mavericks point guard did not hesitate in giving credit where credit was due. When asked if he had any expectations about receiving the ball at the crucial last few seconds, Irving replied that he did and that his feat wouldn’t have been impossible without the efforts of the MVP contender.
“I wouldn’t have gotten that shot off without Luka tying the ball game,” said Irving. “He was unbelievable tonight and making a lot of clutch plays getting to the free throw line, so I give a lot of credit to him and getting us to that position and then allowing me to get that game-winner”.
