The Dallas Mavericks secured an impressive victory over the Portland Trail Blazers 125-112 on Friday. However, the Mavericks star Kyrie Irving writhed in pain after he was fouled by Portland star Doup Reath. He fell, and Dwight Powell stepped on his foot. Though the Mavericks star stayed in the game to shoot throws, he was ruled out of the game after a medical examination. There were reports that Kyrie Irving left the arena and that his injury was something serious.

The coach of the Dallas Mavericks Jason Kidd began kidding with the reporters as he attempted to rubbish the claims. He laughed it off as he tried to school the reporting that he suggested was baseless.

The 13-8 record of the Mavericks helped them to hold the third spot in the Western Conference. Their win against the Blazers came with a bit of cost but was blown out of proportion though. As the head coach of the Mavericks talked to the media, he was questioned about the report of the Blazers TV. The reporter wanted him to confirm if Irving had left the arena in a wheelchair. However, Kidd said, “All reporting is not all factual. Or should we all believe it?” Later, he had a good laugh and continued, “I am not here to interview you, but I think he hasn’t left the building. He is still here.”

Whether Kidd was trying to hide anything behind his laugh or not, he didn’t delve into the medical condition of Irving. Dallas fans would want their top man to be good enough to return soon. But it wasn’t the first time that Kidd’s interaction with reporters was out of the box.

When the Mavericks climbed to 11-6 after a 121-115 win over the Houston Rockets, Kidd wanted reporters to write positively. Kidd was asked about the last quarter struggle of Irving where he and Luka Doncic added 23 points. Kidd contended that some reporters had blown things out of proportion in the previous year on Irving’s performance in the previous year.

The Mavericks’ head coach said that Irving was performing well compared to the previous year. Also, he added that reporters need to maintain a positive tone. Kidd said, “It’s alright to write positive stuff, people will read your positive sh–. You don’t always have to be negative. The world is already negative enough.”
