The Sixers and the Knicks faced off in the first round with the Sixers being the favorites to win. Led by the reigning MVP, Philly managed to extend the series to six games though couldn’t get past the Knicks. While guys like Tobias, Oubre, and Batum played their part, it wasn’t enough. Meanwhile, Harris, who is now an unrestricted free agent has a lot of options to explore. Out of all, he can consider teaming up with Luka Doncic.

Teams like the Mavs and the Jazz are some of the possible destinations for Harris this summer. It is unlikely for him to return to Philly following a rough season. Despite averaging 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, Harris only shot 35% from distance. However, he can get back to finding his rhythm with guys in Dallas. Playing alongside Doncic and Irving, Harris can be a great shooting backup for the squad. The best player in Dallas after the duo is Tim Hardaway Jr. Hardaway put up great numbers but wasn’t a major part of the team’s playoff success this season.

Tim is in the last year of his contract which will bag him around $16.2 million. The Mavs are willing to make space for a shooter. Involving Hardaway Jr. in a trade is what seems to be the optimal option for the Mavs. On the other hand, Harris will have a better time in Dallas considering his role among the two All-Stars.

Apart from the duo, the only reliable shooter in Dallas was Tim, though he couldn’t keep up with numbers during the postseason. Bringing in a much more experienced forward, the Mavs will have a balanced lineup. With guys like Gafford, Lively, and Washington taking more responsibility, Harris’ game will be complemented. But what’s in it for Harris?

How impactful will Harris be alongside Luka?

When Kyrie came in, Doncic did not hesitate to leverage Irving’s play style to help win more games. If the Mavs decide to introduce Harris, he’ll have a more definitive role. Not only that but looking at his previous contract, Harris can expect a four-year $140 million deal. If anything, considering how strong the Mavs have become, the next season comes with the same expectations.

Only this time will they look to add necessary assets. Luka and Kyrie had a terrific season and the Finals loss shouldn’t be the full stop to their potential. Building a team around the two will be the front office’s next step. With the offseason market building momentum in full swing, it will be interesting to see if the Mavs go for Harris.
