Drafting Bronny could be the next big move in the NBA world. The 19-year-old rising star has had a tough run in the last few months, following his underwhelming freshman-year performance. But, now he has emerged as a major deciding factor in the upcoming season’s power dynamics. While the Lakers’ Rob Pelinka has shown indecisiveness in drafting the youth, the Dallas Mavericks have popped up in the conversation as a late entrant. This could be because Bron was reminiscing about a part of his Clevland chapter.

From the get-go, it’s been highly assumed that the LA Lakers are in the picture to draft Bronny mainly because of his dad’s wish to play alongside his son. However, Lebron’s dream statement has been getting a beating in the NBA world in the last few months. Especially, several reports have stated that other franchises look to draft James Jr., only to lure his father into their side. Going by that logic, King James might head to the Mavs as per the latest from The Stein Line that revealed the Dallas side’s “interest” to draft the 19-year-old.

They plan to do so with the 58th overall pick. If they draft Bronny as the backup guard into their already-stacked backcourt, the team could strengthen their frontcourt with LeBron James for another Championship run. Importantly, it could relieve James. In a recent episode of Mind The Game, James spoke highly of Kyrie‘s current Championship run alongside Doncic. He also added, “I’m so f***ing mad that I’m not his (Kyrie’s) running mate anymore. I just remember those times. ” Maybe the superstar’s outcry echoed in the Mavs’ front office and the NBA world could witness a miracle.

However, in the same article, Marc Stein stated that it’s “extremely unlikely” to draft Bronny as late as 58th overall pick. The USC guard’s agent Rich Paul confirmed that the youngster didn’t look beyond the Phoenix Suns and Lakers auditions.

Will Rob Pelinka’s indecisiveness serve good for LeBron James?

The ball is currently in the Lakers’ court. In fact, it has been the case ever since Bronny came into the picture. But, the Lakers are yet to make a clear decision on the draft situation. A few days ago, an LA Times article reported that the LA front office has decided to trade their 17th pick and first-round picks of 2029 and 2031 for a superstar ahead of the draft day. The franchise has been linked to top young names like Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, and Dejounte Murray for a long time. And acquiring any of these stars will require a certain sacrifice for Rob Pelinka and Co.

If they miss the chance to rope the star in the 17th pick, they have only the 55th pick left in the tank. And, if that’s the case, both the Lakers and Mavs could lose their chance to the Suns, who have the 22nd pick. On top of it, the Purple & Gold hasn’t decided on the coaching vacancy yet. UConn’s Dan Hurley almost took the job away from JJ Redick a few days back. But anything can happen in a matter of a few days. The Draft is exactly 10 days away and fans can expect a lot of drama before that. It remains to be seen whether Jeanie Buss’ focus is on short-term success with LeBron James in the next few years or the bigger picture.
