It’s chaos in Dallas right now. Over the past few days, Dallas Mavericks fans have taken their protests over Luka Doncic’s trade to another level. Two fans were even ejected from the American Airlines Center for getting into it with Mark Cuban. But his response later just showed why he’s so beloved amongst Dallas fans.

Mark Cuban allegedly bought one of the fans courtside seats for the Mavericks’ game tonight against the Golden State Warriors. It was a generous gesture from Cuban and it seems like he’s attempting to keep the fanbase from completely turning against the organization. But what happened exactly that led to the fans getting ejected in the first place, you may ask? Let us explain.

Well, a lot of the Dallas Mavericks ultras have kept up their vehement protests against the Mavericks. The reason? These hardcore fans wanted Nico Harrison to be fired or better yet, the Mavericks to be sold. And it seems two men wearing Luka jerseys, went too far in their protests. They got into a shouting match with Mark Cuban.

“Shut the f—- up and sit the f—- down!” Cuban allegedly yelled according to fan footage shown to ESPN. “I didn’t care what he was saying. He was saying it the whole game. I cared that fans were booing him while we had the ball in crunch time or were shooting FTs. The time when they should be silent, or cheering for the Mavs,” said Mark Cuban about his recollection of the events. However, it is to be noted that he only recalls getting into it with one person.

A follow-up post on X by MFFL NATION detailed the possible reason for Cuban to give them tickets for the next game. A section of the post read, “security was overly aggressive during his removal. After hearing his side, Cuban offered him the tickets.” While all of this is hearsay at the moment, the Luke trade situation has evidently taken an ugly turn for the organization.

The whole situation with the ejection was entirely avoidable on the fans’ part. After all, the Luka trade is done and dusted. There is simply no going back now. But how does Mark Cuban feel about this trade now that he isn’t calling the shots at Dallas anymore?

What’s your perspective on:

Did Mark Cuban's courtside gesture win back fans, or is the Luka trade unforgivable?

Everything’s bigger in Texas. It seems that saying holds true for blunders as well. That’s because trading Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis and Max Christie was a huge blunder on GM Nico Harrison’s part. And someone who, like most Mavericks fans, agrees with this statement is former majority owner, Mark Cuban.

Cuban made his feelings about the trade known publicly for the first time during a conversation with fellow billionaire, Bill Gates. “If after you left Microsoft, you found out that Steve Ballmer traded Windows 11, the new hot operating system for Windows 10 the Hall of Famer. What would you do?” he asked, prompting the crowd to burst into laughter at his hilarious quip.

Bill Gates replied, “I might have to from the press for a little while,” adding to the banter. It’s quite apparent that trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t sit right with Mark. He viewed Luka Doncic as a cornerstone for the Mavericks moving forward, someone to build their team around. After all, he did say he’d rather get divorced than have Luka leave the Mavs.

Perhaps it was Mark Cuban’s seeing eye to eye with the ejected fan that led to the above-mentioned generous gesture. Or perhaps he simply felt bad for him after the fan got kicked out. Either way, Mark Cuban just showed us why he’s a darling among Dallas fans. Even if they’re a little cross with him and the team right now.
