JJ Redick made his plan clear for Bronny James when he took over the Lakers head coaching job. “I look at Bronny as a young guy I’m very high on as a basketball player. He’s kind of like our first player that we get to mold and help develop.” Well, the molding and development are at full strength given the 20-year-old is doing pretty well with the South Bay Lakers. The rookie has shown massive growth in recent months. However, his insane athleticism turned into his biggest enemy during tonight’s Valley Suns clash as he took a scary fall in front of Savannah James.

The incident occurred midway through the final quarter. With the South Bay Lakers enjoying a comfortable lead, Bronny decided to drive aggressively to the basket as he saw an open lane. And the rookie soared through the air for an insane poster dunk over the Suns’ defender. But as the crowd went into a frenzy after the highlight play, the young guard made a very awkward landing and fell hard on his head and side.

Sure enough, Bronny was shaken up after the nasty fall and lay on the floor for several minutes in visible agony. As his teammates and staff rushed to check on him, Savannah could be seen on the sidelines, worried for her son. It was not too long ago that Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during practice, putting his life and basketball career at risk. And it was a very difficult time for the James family.

Fortunately, the rookie was not seriously hurt by the fall and got up on his own.

Unlike Savannah, LeBron was not in attendance for the game. However, his teammate, Dorian Finney-Smith, was present in the gym to cheer the rookie on. And Bronny put on a show for everyone with all eyes on him.

Adding icing on the cake, he took a page out of his new teammate, Luka Doncic’s book.

Yes, for one of his buckets, he scored with Luka’s signature step-back three.

Well, it looks like Doncic’s presence has already begun rubbing off on the rookie. Although it has just been a few days since they became teammates, Luka and Bronny were spotted having a great time sitting side by side on the Lakers bench during a recent game. In a viral video, the former Mavs star could be seen laughing throughout while Bronny had a hilarious exchange with a fan.

Of course, tonight is not the only time Bronny has impressed with his performance. Very recently, he scored a career-high 31 points against the Rip City Remix, while also setting the internet on fire by imitating his dad’s signature tomahawk dunk. If he continues to make such rapid progress, the day is not far when we see Bronny and Luka running the floor together wearing Purple and Gold.
