You’re watching the most awaited All-Star week, and the dunk Contest just began. But, now, the camera pans toward the audience and you see Damian Lillard yawning. And not just Dame, Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and his wife, Ayesha, all were distracted. Not good right? But then came Orlando Magic’s Mac McClung. And yawns changed to cheers. But the best reaction certainly goes to Currys.

Many believed, this year’s All-Star Weekend lacked big-name dunkers, but that didn’t stop it from delivering jaw-dropping moments. Mac McClung went head-to-head with Stephon Castle, Matas Buzelis, and Andre Jackson Jr., and from the jump, it was clear he wasn’t playing around.

In his first attempt, McClung soared over a car, sending shockwaves through the arena. Judges were left in awe, fans roared in excitement, and the Superstars in attendance couldn’t believe their eyes. Even Steph Curry, the three-point king himself, was on the edge of his seat. But it was Ayesha’s reaction that stole the show—clutching Steph’s hand tightly as if to brace for impact.

And then came the grand finale. With the crowd buzzing, McClung took flight one last time, this time clearing 6’11” Evan Mobley with ease to secure his third dunk contest crown. The result? Ayesha Curry’s jaw literally hit the floor, while Steph, in pure disbelief, feigned passing out in his seat. Can you blame them? Go back and watch it again—you won’t either.

How Mac McClung left Steph and Ayesha absolutely stunned

At first, things weren’t looking great. The opening round of the Dunk Contest had its fair share of disappointments, with Matas Buzelis missing all four attempts and Stephon Castle and Andre Jackson Jr. delivering forgettable, last-minute dunks. But just when it seemed like another letdown for the NBA, Mac McClung stepped up. With a reverse two-handed slam over a KIA, he set the tone and walked away with a perfect 50.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Mac McClung just redefine the dunk contest, or was it the Curry reactions that stole the show?

And then, things really started to heat up. Buzelis opened Round 2 with a smooth reverse dunk off the side of the backboard. Castle and Jackson Jr. followed with more explosive slams, but McClung stole the show yet again. Another flawless 50-point dunk had the judges—and the crowd—on their feet.

But Jackson Jr. wasn’t going down without a fight. He landed a clean rock-the-baby dunk in Round 2, earning his spot in the final showdown against McClung. Meanwhile, Castle came alive, pulling off an alley-oop dunk through the legs for a near-perfect 49.6. It was his best moment of the night, but a failed first attempt drained some of the excitement.

Still, Castle wasn’t done. He came back with a behind-the-back lefty slam, finally earning that elusive 50-point score. It wasn’t enough to dethrone McClung, but it was a performance that got the crowd fired up. As for McClung, his best dunk might have been his first one with the KIA, but he still delivered in the final round. His two-ball slam had the judges and, ofcourse, Currys buzzing.

And then came the dunk that sealed it. McClung soared over Evan Mobley, tapping the ball on the rim before finishing the dunk. It was clean, effortless, and historic. With that, he became the first player ever to win three straight dunk contest trophies. Not only that he also becomes just the second player ever to win the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest three times, putting him alongside dunk legend Nate Robinson. The crowd went wild, Steph Curry feigned fainting, and Ayesha’s jaw hit the floor. What a night!!
