Is a Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic team-up the dream scenario every NBA fan should be rooting for?

Luka Dončić, the Dallas Mavericks’ star, has been a game-changer since joining the team in 2018, leading them to the Western Conference Finals and the NBA Finals. As the Mavs prepare for the upcoming season after their recent loss to the Celtics in the NBA finals, a new video of the Slovenian star has gone viral, showing him relaxing on a farm back home.

In the video, Luka seems to enjoy the tranquility of farmland, riding tractors and hanging out with cows and horses. He expressed his love for the farm life, saying, “You know it’s just beautiful. You can make food, you can see the landscape too. It’s very beautiful, very peaceful,” when discussing his interest in owning a farm after he retires.

Another intriguing aspect is that Dirk Nowitzki recently expressed his hopes for Nikola Jokić and Luka Dončić to team up, especially after the Night of the Dragon charity event. As for Jokić, we know he’s a big fan of horses. When asked how many he owns, he responded, “Right now, like, 7, 8… Uhh, 10, 12.” So, if the two can’t join forces in the NBA, maybe they could team up on a farm instead!

Even if Luka Dončić and Nikola Jokić don’t team up in the NBA, fans are excited about the idea of them teaming up off the court. Let’s check out a few reactions.

Why fans think Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic would make a perfect NBA pair

As the season hasn’t started yet, Luka Dončić and Nikola Jokić seem to be enjoying their time back in their home countries. Luka is taking pleasure in farm life, while Jokić is immersing himself in the world of horses and ranches. A recent video of Luka sparked some fan excitement, with one noting, “Luka and Jokic haven’t been this happy since the season started.” Though Jokić isn’t in the video, it’s well-known how much he loves spending time around horses, just as Luka enjoys farm life.

Another fan wrote, “Nikola Jokic will be proud of you,” hinting at how much Jokic would appreciate the idea of spending time at the farm. Jokic is known for his low-key lifestyle—he doesn’t have social media, and Luka Dončić has mentioned this before. “Jokic doesn’t have Instagram or anything; he’s just a different guy. He loves his horses. I tried to convince him to join Instagram, but he said, ‘No, no chance,’” Luka said. Given Jokic’s preference for privacy and his love for nature, he’d likely be pleased to see Luka enjoying the tranquility of the countryside.

One fan joked, “Jokic told Luka this is how you get the people to leave you alone go home,” implying that retreating to a quiet, private place like a farm is the best way to avoid attention and stay out of the spotlight. Maybe Luka Dončić is starting to enjoy this idea too; hanging out with Jokic seems to have influenced him, and who doesn’t love some peace?

Though most NBA players love being on the court and starting the season, one fan joked, “Luka and Jokic are sad that their 9 to 5 started again.” This playfully suggests that the two stars are disappointed to return to their rigorous NBA schedules and intense training after enjoying their relaxing time away from the court.

Though we haven’t seen Luka and Jokic play together much outside of All-Star Games and charity events, fans are already convinced that the two would make a great team, given their off-court chemistry. What are your thoughts on the duo?
