Luka Doncic just dropped another 30-point game for the Lakers. This is now his second 30-point performance in the last 3 games. But Luka isn’t one of those people who needs to score 30 a game to be happy. In fact, it takes something entirely unrelated to basketball to lift the Slovenian’s mood.

Today was Luka’s 26th birthday, and a reporter at the post-game press conference asked him to reflect on his past and tell us how he felt. Luka had a response that no one at the press conference expected.Yeah, I mean, it’s all good. I’m happy, it’s all the best.I have a little daughter, my family’s good. The people around me are good, so that’s everything I want,” said Doncic.

What a mature response from Doncic! Only 26, Luka knows what’s really important in life – the people that you love and cherish. Luka and his wife welcomed their daughter, Gabriele, into this world in 2023. And while we haven’t seen too much of her, it’s clear that the Doncic family is enjoying their time in Los Angeles, as evidenced by Luka’s wife’s Instagram.

And the city of Los Angeles, along with the 3.8 million people in it, has really embraced Doncic. Just recently, an artist chose to immortalize a moment between the Slovenian and Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant. Artist Arutyun Gozukuchikyan painted a beautiful mural of the time when Kobe and Luka met at a Lakers-Mavs game back in 2019. Luke was floored by this gesture, calling it “unbelievable”.

However, Dallas still lingers in Luka Doncic’s mind. After all, he joined them as a teenager and blossomed into the man he is today. Luka thinks that it’ll be a while before these wounds close. Here’s what he said.

Luka Doncic confesses that the process of closure is a slow-burn

Luka Doncic recently got one over the man who traded him, Nico Harrison, when he faced the Dallas Mavericks. The chants of “Thank you, Nico” from the Lakers fans must have felt like music to Luka’s ears during the Los Angeles Lakers‘ dominant victory over the Mavs.

Getting his revenge on Harrison, however, was not enough to bring closure. If anything, he thinks that getting closure will take a while. “The closure is going to take a while, I think. I don’t know, it’s just not ideal. Like I said, I’m glad this game is over. There was a lot of emotions. It will go, little by little. Every day is better,” said Doncic.

Is Luka Doncic's heart still in Dallas, or has LA truly become his new home?

And it’s quite understandable that he feels this way. He spent around 7 years in Dallas. His daughter was born there. It’s not easy to get over history like that in just a few months. After all, it did seem for a while that Luka had made up his mind to spend his career in Dallas, much like German NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki.

However, Nico Harrison had other plans, so that was not to be. Even so, the City of Angels now gets to see Luka Magic play for them. And we don’t they’ll complain for even a second!
