There is no denying that Luka Doncic is one of the most lethal offensive players in the league. He’s led his team to the Finals in only his sixth season! However, when you look closer and dig into why he is not a Champion yet, you might find holes in his game. One such behavioral issue was on everyone’s screen today after Luka was fouled out in the closing minutes after colliding with Jaylen Brown. But Kyrie Irving didn’t seem worried about the situation, despite losing three in a row.

The Slovenian was trying to defend him and as he fell on the floor he was enraged by the official’s call. He took out his frustration on his staff and teammates. “F**king challenge the call!” Luka yelled looking at his bench. After the game, veteran insider Brian Windhorst pointed out that this is the kind of rash behavior that might be stopping Luka from reaching the next level.

“If Luka’s ever gonna be a winner coming out of this tunnel, he’s gonna have to use what’s happened in these finals as a learning experience,” Windhorst claimed. However, Kyrie Irving, who has been Luka’s running mate for only one season did not see this as a big problem, “Just give him (Luka) a hug. That’s it man.”

It is easy to point fingers at Luka Doncic and claim that he could have done something better. “I got his back and we all have his back,” Kyrie added. However, that was certainly not the end of the Luka analysis from Windhorst.

Brian Windhorst calls out Luka’s biggest problem, not his retaliation

Windhorst claimed that Luka’s behavior is constantly getting them into trouble and is hurting his team. While tonight was the first time Luka got fouled out in a playoff game, it could not have come at a worse time. We are aware of the long list of technical fouls he has collected in his young career. Pointing toward the Celtics tunnel, he claimed, “That’s where the winners are.” Brian also pointed out a major problem in Luka’s game. He said, “His defensive performance is unacceptable. He is a hole on the court.”

While Luka’s lack of defense didn’t do much damage in the regular season, teams as lethal as the Celtics have already this weakness while using it to their advantage. And this is happening despite Luka’s great offensive outings. While he is the highest-scoring player on his team in this series (30, 32, and 27 in 3 games) his bad defense has nearly nullified his offensive production. If Dallas hopes to make a never-seen-before comeback in this series, Luka and Kyrie will have to work on these issues immediately.
