Coming off an NBA Finals appearance and the acquisition of Klay Thompson, Mavericks fans are on cloud nine. They have a cemented tandem – Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving that has delivered results. Furthermore, as an org, the Dallas side’s players remain content because of the culture that Mark Cuban has fostered within the building over the years. But how can the new majority owners uplift the lofty standards the billionaire Shark has set?

Just to name one, Mark Cuban, through a partnership, has provided the players with a Boeing 757 for traveling through various cities! Furthermore, his commitment to the players, showing up, and bringing infectious energy to the arena are hard to beat. Chandler Parsons experienced the lavishness that comes with being a Dallas player.

Yet, he thinks the new majority ownership group – Miriam Adelson and Family, which includes Patrick Dumont, the Governor, will turn the Mavs into a bigger ‘destination’. “Their new owner is despicably rich. They are going to have all the nicest resources… This guy Patrick Dumont, he’s next level, he’s a game-changer. He’s going to add a whole other dynamic to the marketing.”

“He’s going to make the Dallas Mavericks like a Vegas show. It is going to be the place if you don’t like basketball, still, he’s going to make the atmosphere, where you want to go to these games. On top of that, they have a good product and they’re going to win games,” the ex-Mavs forward claims on Run It Back. Following the enchanting act of Mark Cuban is a herculean task, to say the least.

But there is one way that the Adelson family can transform the Dallas Mavericks by taking a page out of Steve Ballmer’s book. In 2021, when Mark Cuban was yet to sell a majority stake, he announced intentions to leave the American Airlines Center once the 2031 lease expires. He had a dream, “to build an arena that’s 20 stories up in the air where every seat has a view of downtown.”

Then the billionaire said that since construction of a brand-new arena would require at least 5 years, a decision would have to be made quickly. Now, the Shark’s dream can get incredible assistance, with the Adelson’s worth well beyond $30 billion.

If they do, while it will cost a fortune upfront, throughout its existence, the Dallas franchise will save immensely on the rent they pay to the city annually. Furthermore, it allows them to go above and beyond, a common trend attached to Cuban’s flamboyance!

No matter what, Mark Cuban will be an integral part of Mavericks’ history

When Cuban initially took over Luka Doncic and Co., their franchise didn’t have the glamour it possesses today. “Never crossed my mind as an investment. I did it because I love basketball,” he explained. The priority immediately became curating a dreamy fan experience. Whether it meant cutting the cost of tickets or picking the phone up himself, Cuban did it.

Furthermore, his attention toward the players is what separates him from the majority of the owners in the NBA. He was willing to pour in great amounts of money to provide the players with state-of-the-art facilities. He opened up a $70 million practice facility right across from the AAC. Additionally, he invested more money into the facility to offer recreational services for the players.

It included sleeping pods, arcade games, and even a two-lane bowling alley. His efforts are also among the reasons players began to want to play for the Mavericks. The most recent example might just be Kyrie Irving, the perfect running mate for Luka Doncic.

Before Dallas, each of the hooper’s previous stints came with turbulence. Yet, Mark Cuban didn’t hesitate to give him the long-term deal he was seeking and built a solid relationship with the crafty, experienced scorer.

The way the franchise and its now-part owner accepted Kai ultimately paved the way for Klay to join too. Irving pitched the franchise to him, sharing his wonderful experience. “This team goes out of their way to make sure you feel special, not just on the court but in your life as well,” he revealed, telling the legacy ex-Warrior.

The star investor helped the franchise off-the-court too. Since before his arrival, the Dallas side’s reputation had dropped because of its front-office troubles. Cuban aimed to change that and hired Cynt Marshall as the CEO, who became the first Black woman to lead an NBA team in March 2018.

In Mark Cuban’s words, “Bringing Cynt to the Mavericks 6 years ago was one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made!” With the launch of the ‘Women of Mavs Empowering Network’ to a confidential hotline, they brought about a huge change in the organization.

So even though the new ownership has greater resources, replicating what Mark Cuban did for the franchise will be a daunting task.
