The Dallas Mavericks were once again brilliant tonight. Luka Doncic and the Mavs grabbed the bull by the horns and finished with a 109-108 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2. Post-game saw the man of the hour wrapped with bandages and every other paraphernalia to calm his injuries.

None of those, though, mattered to him in the face of the team’s win. Yet, what was even more hilarious was how he joined the Inside crew in trolling the 4x Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert. Talking about his brilliant shot over the 7-foot Minnesota giant, Shaquille O’Neal calls his attention to the fact that he had the shiny DPOY guarding him.

Taking a moment to let it sink in, Doncic responded with a short laugh, and, “Yeah, I mean he’s long, but he can’t move. I can’t move fast, but I can move faster than him.” This resulted in a full-bellied laughter from everyone present. Talk about emotional damage!

Luka’s sense of humor is unparalleled. Having him and Nikola Jokić together in a room would result in some of the most hilariously, wholesome moments. All the jokes aside, though, Doncic’s patented step-back three was a crucial move that put them over the edge. The clock was winding down faster and the 25-year-old was trying to find a space for a Hail Mary!

Using a screen to lure Gobert out to the top of the key and a crossover dribble to set up his shot got Dallas the Game 2 victory. It couldn’t have come more opportune as No. 77 hit the shot with just three seconds left. The whole arena was in shock before the Mavs fans roared with happiness.

Although it might look like a casual joke between a few sports professionals after a great game, Doncic might have had a little bit more incentive to troll this season’s DPOY.

It was the second quarter of the game when Rudy took, it would seem, a spur-of-the-moment decision. The Wolves were holding their largest lead at 18 points (55-37) when Doncic grabbed a rebound. As he made his way up the court, the Minnesota center appeared to hit Luka’s midsection with a closed fist. Gobert looked visibly embarrassed as he immediately apologized to Doncic.

Fearing a tussle maybe, Wolves’ Jaden McDaniels ran in between them. Except for what looked like a “C’mon man,” the 5x All-Star did nothing else. But it was quite clear he had the dirty play at the back of his mind. After the clutch shot, Luka Doncic was seen yelling a few choice words at a stunned Gobert. “Motherf***er! You can’t f***ing guard me!”

Clearly, the trolling was getting rid of the rest of his indignance. Anyway, Game 3 is scheduled to tip off at 8:00 PM ET at the American Airlines Center next.
