A few days ago, the Lakers looked unstoppable, making a strong case for the championship. Suddenly, the team looks out of shape, losing three in a row. Blame the injuries! Last night, Luka Doncic & Co. faced the Bucks without three starters, including LeBron James. The situation might remain the same for a few more games. But the Slovenian guard seemed immune to it as he revealed the team’s mentality. At the same time, there’s a glaring miscommunication on a crucial issue.

When LukaMagic made his way to the Lakers, there was a lot of hype. Rightfully. But amid the glitz and glamour, everyone forgot to notice the recurring problem, the turnovers. Even though the 26-year-old guard was known for his elite passing abilities, he made a few costly errors. While it went under the rug during the 8-game winning streak, it painfully emerged with the latest losing streak.

In the last 13 games, that is since Luka Doncic‘s Lakers’ debut, the team has conceded 189 turnovers. Out of which Luka held an embarrassing total of 56 turnovers. However, after tonight’s blowout 126-106 loss against the Bucks, JJ Redick refused to acknowledge that the Slovenian baller was responsible for most of the sloppy work. In response, the 5x All-Star disagreed with Coach JJ and took all the blame.

“Got to take care of the ball. I mean, it’s the most important thing in basketball. So got to take care of it. And obviously, they were my fault and I got to do a better job doing that,” said Doncic at the post-game presser. Tonight, the guard scored 45 points with 11 rebounds and barely received any support from the rest of the squad. At the same time, he gave away 6 turnovers. Truly a demoralizing stat. Nevertheless, the team doesn’t seem to have lost their hope, as the star guard revealed a promising locker room mindset.

Luka Doncic promises a Lakers’ comeback

We all know the reason behind the Lakers’ misery. LeBron James, the guiding light of the team, suffered a groin injury and will be out for at least 2 weeks. Some say it may even exceed. Apart from him, Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes, two other starters, didn’t lace up with respective injuries.

Speaking of the injuries, Luka said, “It’s always going to be tough when there’s 3–4 starters out. And you know it’s always tough.” At the same time, he wasn’t going to give up on the team easily. The guard countered, saying, “Winning teams always go through something. And I think we kind of experiencing that now. But we just got to… learn from it and we got to go (with) next man, next game… mentality that we can win this.”
