The Dallas fans collectively had a ‘heart-in-their-mouth’ moment late in the first half after Luka Doncic went down. It has been injuries galore in the NBA world just two weeks into the new season. Importantly, with Steph Curry out for at least a week with an ankle injury, LukaMagic also had a similar situation after a scary incident in tonight’s match-up against the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, following the game, the Slovenian star spoke about the ‘weird feeling’ at that moment.

With 1:10 minutes left in the first half, the Wolves Jaden McDaniels kneed Luka Doncic on the back of the leg. The star guard stood there unmoved, grimacing in pain, but also managed to make a bucket. Immediately after that, the guard wanted out, leaving the fans in the arena stone cold, and rushed to the locker room. Luckily, Luka Doncic returned to the floor in the second half.

Speaking of those concerning few seconds, in the presser, he said“Yeah, just got a little scared—a lot of injuries happening. I felt a little something, but I was fine pretty soon after.” Importantly, the star revealed a scary detail, saying, “There are a lot of injuries happening. It’s pretty sore now. I stopped and somebody kneed me from behind. My knee went forward. It was not good feelings.”

While fans were worried about Luka Doncic’s injury, Coach Jason Kidd had an entirely different perspective. Speaking of the moment after the game, the HC said, “I don’t think we were concerned about Luka’s injury. It was more or less what can we do better.” It’s definitely a confident statement from a coach whose roster has veteran players like Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson. Nevertheless, the new-look Mavs, despite facing their own setbacks, conveniently managed to add salt to the Wolves’ 2024 post-season wounds.

Dallas shuts down Minnesota yet again! Y’all remember Anthony Edwards‘ dominant playoff run last season? It all went in vain when the Mavs silenced them in the Conference Finals. Months later, Luka Doncic & Co. pushed the dagger further, deepening the wound.

Ant-Man had a perfect start to the revenge plan, dropping 24 points in the first quarter. But, he could only make 23 more points in the remaining three quarters, failing to grab control of the game. On the other end, Kyrie Irving put up a clinical performance, dropping 35 points with 6 daggers from the deep, helping the team produce a commanding 120-114 win.

Can the Mavericks continue their winning streak with Luka Doncic's injury scare looming?

Have an interesting take?

The Wolves definitely felt Karl-Anthony Towns‘ absence tonight. The 7-foot forward, who consistently averaged 20+ points, made a necessary impact on the defensive end. A not-so-fit Julius Randle indeed made a promising effort, scoring 20 points with 7 rebounds and 7 assists. However, it wasn’t enough to fight against a team that had plenty of space on the floor.
