The Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic took time off to escape the 0-2 Finals series. Despite a consistent 30-point effort from the Slovenian star, the Mavs couldn’t find a breakthrough against the Boston Celtics. Especially, Kyrie Irving, the trusted backcourt partner of Luka Magic, couldn’t out win the TD Garden crowd. Now, the Mavs head back to Texas and have a chance to level the series. But before that, the 25-year-old star took a trip down to his roots.

Before becoming an NBA sensation, Doncic has already proved his worth on a professional level. Usually, the NBA stars make their way to the big league through college basketball, but that isn’t the case for Doncic. He made a mark as a superstar in the Spanish league, LIGA ACB. Notably, he has also won the championship and ACB MVP for his side, Real Madrid.

And, after the Game 2 loss, Doncic fell back to his roots, as he cheered for the Spanish team. Notably, the team is playing the Liga ACB Finals against UCAM Murcia to claim their 37th title. The 25-year-old watched Game 2 live on a tablet as he shared the picture of the game on his Instagram stories with the caption “Vamos” which meant “Let’s go”.

Unlike the disappointing Mavs, Real Madrid has gone 2-0 up in the Finals series. In Game 2, Madrid took a comfortable 79-63 blowout win, setting the track for the 37th title in the franchise’s history. In the 2017-18 season, 19-year-old Doncic helped them win the title, and fast forward to six years, the star has found himself in a similar situation. But, the only difference is, that he has a lot of work left in the series to repeat his 2018 magic.

Apart from that, Luka Doncic also gave a shout-out to his former teammate, Rudy Fernandez. He shared a picture of him and wrote, “Uno de los mas grandes.” which meant “One of the biggest”.

Will Luka Doncic & C0. turn things around?

The Dallas Mavericks don’t have any option other than pulling the series back with two back-to-back wins. The Celtics looked in great in touch throughout the first two games and the visitors barely had a response. However, Luka Doncic would be the last person to be blamed. In the last two games, the Slovenian star has averaged 31 points with 10.5 rebounds. It’s Kyrie Irving and the rest of the supporting cast, who refused to show up.

Moreover, Uncle Drew had his battle going on with the Boston crowd along with his infamous TD Garden record. Irving has gone 0-12 since he stomped the Celtics logo in 2021. Nevertheless, heading back to Texas, the Mavs will have the homecourt advantage. And, the Dallas crowd can give the Celts a taste of their own medicine.

On the other hand, Draymond Green offered a major suggestion to help the Mavs’ cause. He said, “Dallas right now has to make an adjustment… actually extremely tough but doable… I think they need to have Luka in the post,” during his podcast immediately after the game.
