It took just 15 games for the Golden State Warriors to tumble. Since their last win on November 23, they’ve gone 3-12. Once the top seed, Steve Kerr and Co. are now 11th in the West. The Warriors’ dynasty isn’t just waning—it’s unraveling at an insane pace. So, what’s going wrong in the Bay? And no, Dennis Schroder’s mid-season gamble hasn’t yet delivered the magic fix they need.

So, the Dubs lost to the LA Clippers on Friday. Again. For the third time this season. Despite Jonathan Kuminga’s 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists– a much-needed double-double, the team couldn’t do much. Sadly, the German guard, Dennis Schroder could register only 7 points in 24 minutes of his gameplay. Meanwhile, Norman Powell, James Harden, and others from the Clippers side did their task of bringing another win to perfection.

However, there are too many questions for the Warriors HC to answer. Questions like: Why his team is failing to turn efforts into wins? Or/and, how long until Schroder begins to perform with his full potential?

Steve Kerr opens up about his team and the German guard’s persistent struggle since the arrival

In the post-game presser, reporters asked Coach Kerr: “What do you see offensively when Dennis runs the controls? What hasn’t he been able to get going?” And Steve Kerr replied“It’s always difficult to go to a new team in the middle of the season and not know your teammates very well. So it takes some time. He’s still basically in training camp with our team. I mean, he’s been here less than two weeks. I think he played 4 or 5 games. So it’s just going to take some time.”

Dennis Schroder joined the Golden State Warriors earlier in December in exchange for an injured De’Anthony Melton, Reece Beekman, and three second-round picks. Moreover, the 31-year-old guard has been around the NBA since 2013, so Steve Kerr wants to rely on his new player’s experience and performance over the years.

“But, what you do is trust who the player has been for 10 or 12 years and you trust that. You know, he’ll get comfortable and settle in because it’s a tiny sample size we’re talking about,” the 59-year-old HC remarked. “He [Schroder] also came to us at a time when we’ve been ice cold. So he needs shooting around him. You know, he’s a pick and roll making some plays. He’s gonna be fine.”

Steve Kerr further added in a slightly concerned tone: “But, we’ve gotta gain some confidence shooting the ball and find multiple guys in one game who get it going. And that comes with confidence. We’ve obviously lost some confidence.”

Is Steve Kerr losing his magic touch, or can he still turn the Warriors' season around?

On a serious note, the Dubs have gone 10 places down the Western Conference points table. And you simply cannot say that this hasn’t affected their confidence on the court. In reality, Steve Kerr’s boys are lacking somewhere in the games. Sometimes it’s the defense and sometimes the offense, and sometimes it’s both. Amidst all the woes, the Dub Nation has one plea, and that is Dennis Schroder’s performance, he came in to fill up the void Klay Thompson left behind. Support for Stephen Curry and a lethal guard on the court. But things (read: wonders) are yet to happen.

Meanwhile, recent “unhealthy” Warriors locker room speculations could become a new concern for Hall of Famer Head Coach Steve Kerr.

Steve Kerr doesn’t believe his 22-year-old forward? What?

Brian Windhorst and The Hoop Collective recently discussed the whole situation around Steve Kerr and Jonathan Kuminga. Well, the analyst Tim MacMahon speculated on the odd locker scenes, it’s interesting to know what he said. “Specularly athletic,” JK will have a lot of franchises eyeing him if he makes it to the NBA’s trade market before the deadline on Feb. 6. MacMahon further revealed his thoughts on what Kerr might be thinking about Kuminga.

“Steve Kerr doesn’t need me to stick up for him. He’s a hall of fame coach, you know, has all kinds of championship, hardware. Windy’s already his defense attorney. He doesn’t need another one. But, clearly, Kerr doesn’t believe Kuminga.” Well, the Golden State Warriors HC was upset with the 22-year-old forward Jonathan Kuminga after his disappointing performance against the Timberwolves and Grizzlies, where he could only manage 11 points in each game. But that doesn’t mean the coach will stop coaching him, at least that’s what Steve Kerr clearly stated to the media.

So, while these are just speculations, one thing remains true at this point: The Warriors need to make a massive comeback before the season rolls into the playoffs. Given the current situation of the team with a 15-15 record after their Clippers lose, Steve Kerr needs a master plan to turn the tables. And yes, the playoffs are suddenly looking like a far-fetched dream for the championship-winning head coach. And about Dennis Schroder? He might need a few more games to learn his way around the court in the Warriors style.
