Draymond Green is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of any player about to take on the Golden State Warriors. His defensive dominance during the Warriors’ peak was undeniable. Attackers knew they were stepping into a veritable meat grinder when facing him. Well, there was no sign of that Draymond Green tonight in the Warriors’ loss to the struggling Philadelphia 76ers.
If losing to a team on a 9-game losing streak wasn’t bad enough, Draymond Green had an awful showing tonight. There was no sign of the man who bullied LeBron James in those heated Warriors vs Cavs NBA finals. Instead, we saw a version of Green tonight that missed layups, committed unnecessary fouls, and let the Sixers shoot freely.
Fans are beginning to question how good Green is in the first place after tonight’s performance. While we wouldn’t go that far, we still think this was his worst showing of the season. His team wasn’t spectacular tonight, either. It was clear how much they missed their new signee, Jimmy Butler. The Warriors have enjoyed a 6-1 record in the league when Butler is on the court. Their frontcourt looked lost tonight without him tonight.

Nonetheless, Green bore the brunt of fans’ anger for his performance tonight. Join us as we look at some of the best reactions to his showing against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Dubs Nation disappointed with Draymond Green after his performance against the Philadelphia 76ers
Draymond Green looked flat tonight as he missed several easy layups. “@Money23Green please practice your layups if you’re gonna go on TV and declare a championship,” wrote a frustrated member of the Dubs nation. This is a reference to what Green said during the All-Stat weekend. “I’m sorry I said I think we’re going to win a championship but lied. We ARE going to win a championship,” he said on the desk as an analyst. While he probably won’t regret making that statement, we think he will regret his performance tonight. Sorry, we lied. He WILL regret tonight’s performance.

Another fan pointed out how poor a job Green did in marking his man, Guerschon Yabusele. “Yabusele is Draymond’s assignment btw. Most of his threes are wide open,” they wrote on X. And a quick look at the stats, and we can’t tell whether Green was even marking Yabusele. The Sixers’ forward made 5 out of the 7 three-pointers he attempted tonight. Yabusele was able to channel his inner Stephen Curry tonight, thanks to Green’s awful defense.

As we said earlier, many fans are beginning to question Green’s abilities as a player. “Draymond Green if he wasn’t drafted to the warriors to play with Steph and klay,” one fan wrote with a picture of Draymond looking kind of lost in a T-Wolves jersey. The implication is obvious. They’re trying to say Draymond wouldn’t have the accolades he has without being on the same team as the Splash Brothers. Well, we call BS on this one. Green was just as instrumental to the Dubs dynasty’s success as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. And one bad performance by him cannot erase that fact!

But another member of the community gave a really fair assessment of Draymond’s performance tonight. “This is Draymond Green’s worst defensive game of the year and one of the worst of his career,” they said on X. With no steals or blocks to his name and his team conceding a shocking 68 points in the paint, we’re inclined to agree with this X user’s analysis.
Draymond would love nothing more than to put tonight’s performance behind him. Wouldn’t you? However, despite his performance, we need to remember the defensive juggernaut he was in the Dubs’ heyday. And an off night does not change the fact that Draymond Green is indeed a true warrior!

Has Draymond Green lost his defensive edge, or was tonight just an off game for him?
