Johnson is a professional basketball player representing the LSU Tigers at the moment. Her interest in basketball began at the age of 4, when she used to watch her uncle play in the backyard. But due to her gender, she was never permitted to play the sport. She was forced to go to dance classes where she could not succeed due to a lack of passion. When her mother noticed this, she found a coach who allowed Johnson to play basketball with the boys.

Her rise to fame began when she was the highest point scorer (1900 pts) for Sprayberry High School. And to honor her, they retired her jersey no 4 while she was still a student.

Due to these early accomplishments, she got the chance to play as a shooting guard at the LSU Tigers. There she recorded a season-high 27 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and five assists in a 100?45 win over Northwestern State. Johnson was even named freshman of the year as she led her team to their first NCAA Championship. But that’s not where her talent ends.

The NCAA’s name, image, and likeness (NIL) policy, which went into effect in 2021, proved to be a game changer for her. Flau’jae took advantage of this opportunity to build her brand, sell merchandise, and leverage her name for various ventures. Her creative mindset and innovative approach earned her the Innovator of the Year award at the NIL Summit.

Johnson following her father’s footsteps
