The New York Knicks fans go after a player again. But, this time, it shocks the hoops community more than the player himself. During the last game at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks hosted the Boston Celtics. And, at that time, the boisterous crowd welcomed All-Star Kristaps Porzingis with loud boo. However, tonight, during the Detroit Pistons‘ visit to the MSG, the crowd gave a similar welcome to a 31-year-old former Knicks player, who came off the bench.
It was none other than Evan Fournier. The French baller clocked in at the first quarter around the 3-minute mark. Unexpectedly, the crowd began booing the player. In response to that, the hoops nation took to social media comments, trashing the NY crowd. One user wrote, “Booing Evan Fournier is extreme loser sh*t.”
Here are some more reactions from fans.

When the MSG crowd booed at a star player like Kristaps Porzingis, the fans in social media erupted in excitement, reacting to the drama. But tonight, it infuriated the fans for going after the player whose team has the worst record in this season.
Evan Fournier is getting booed on every touch at MSG and they’re telling me this fanbase doesn’t deserve a championship

Fans booing Evan Fournier…you suck!
Fournier wasn’t the player you expected, but dude was a class-act veteran.

Evan Fournier joined the Knicks fold during the 2020-21 season and he went on to play till this season. In his first season with the Knicks, he put up great numbers, averaging 14.1 points. But, the numbers kept dropping, as the management reduced his game time to half in the following season. And he ended up averaging only 6 points in the next season and barely played 30 games.
Why they booing Evan Fournier at MSG bruhhh?!? 🤣🤣

Importantly, he expressed his wish for a trade out openly in the media recently, and eventually found his way out to the Pistons this season.

The question at hand is, did the Knicks crowd boo at the 31-year-old for expressing his wish for a trade out? Let us find out more about it.
Fournier opened up about his Knicks trade
As expected, 11-season experienced Fournier wasn’t happy about the game time allotted to him and wanted more role on the court. He said, “I was hoping for a trade and it happened, so it worked out,” reported NY Daily News.

He also went on to reveal how he got to know his trade news. It’s a bit of a drama. The veteran guard has already expressed his concerns over the lack of play time and he was expecting a trade. Fournier said, “I had no idea… I was actually in the steam room and Josh [Hart] came in storming like, ‘Yo Ev!’ That’s how it happened.”
The Knicks crowd might have given him the booing treatment because of the willful trade out of the franchise. Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
