The coach hunt at the Los Angeles Lakers has not reached its culmination yet. But it seems like the head of the Lakers’ front office, Jeanie Buss, is already out of the ones interested in the role search. Per the Athletic insiders, Jeanie Buss was quite excited to go for the UConn coach Dan Hurley for the head coach rule. However, when Hurley refused their offer for the job, she was ‘genuinely disappointed’ as per NBA insider Shams Charania. After losing a gem like Hurley, it seems that chances have emerged for the Lakers front office to land one of the best offensive rebounders from the New York Knicks to their roster.

According to NBA insider Ian Begley, the Knicks center Mitchell Robinson‘s name has popped up amid the trade rumors going on in the NBA community. The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his four-year $60 million NBA contract. However, if the Knicks trade him out, he will help his team in matching salary trades. The primary reason for the rumor is that if the Knicks will have to pay the luxury tax this year if they want to keep their roster intact. In fact, they might get past the second apron, which will restrict their mid-season trades. For now, Rob Pelinka’s Lakers are the ones to lead the hunt for the 7-footer center.

Interestingly, Robinson has emerged as one of the best offensive rebounders in the NBA. Moreover, his absence will only put the Knicks down. Nevertheless, the OG Anunoby was expected to opt-out, but it looks like the Knicks want to retain him. So, someone has to offer sacrifice if they want to be below the luxury tax. On the other hand, Robinson’s addition to potential Anthony Davis-led Lakers in the future will embolden their offense.

Will Mitchell Robinson sway away Jeanie Buss’ low energy center trouble?

Jeanie Buss’ latest quest might add drastically to Anthony Davis’ centered team. Since LeBron is getting older, the team might need a fresh leader to score from the front. With reliance on a player like Robinson, the offense can easily focus on the other side of the court. Even Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has acknowledged that Isaiah Hartenstein and Robinson’s combo made some of the best offensive rebounds for their team.

Therefore, Robinson will be a great addition to the defense of the Lakers. Moreover, he will create more chances for the team that the purple and gold jerseys need right now. But the point to be considered is Robinson’s health status. He has suffered numerous number of injuries throughout his career. However, Jeanie Buss and the Lakers need someone who can immediately be a valuable addition to the team.

If Buss and Pelinka sign the accord on the decision to trade for Robinson, it might be one of the riskiest and most genius moves ever done. However, it is all in the air unless it is confirmed. What’s your opinion on it? Will Jeanie Buss pull off such a desperate move? Let us know in the comments.
