Reggie Miller was never a favorite among Lakers fans back in the ’90s and early 2000s. As the face of the Indiana Pacers, he thrived on rivalries—including one with Los Angeles. This is the same guy who once said, “If it’ll help to energize me, I’m prepared to libel and slander the entire Lakers team and the whole city of L.A.” But time has softened opinions. Since moving into broadcasting, Miller has gained more respect—even from Lakers fans. That shift was evident when he recently called out one of their own.

While calling the Lakers’ game against the Bucks, Miller zeroed in on Alex Len. With eight minutes left in the third quarter, Brook Lopez knocked down a three-pointer, stretching Milwaukee’s lead to 86-72. The problem? Len barely contested the shot.

The Pacers legend didn’t hold back: (Alex) Len, he’s not guarding anyone, he’s not scoring, he’s not rebounding. Go small if you’re the Lakers. Yikes! But honestly? He’s not wrong.

With the Lakers dealing with injuries and depth concerns in the frontcourt, JJ Redick took a chance on Len to provide size and defense off the bench. So far, it’s not paying off. Len finished the night with just 2 points (1-3 FG), 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in 19 minutes. That brings his total to 6 points in 6 games with the Lakers.

It begs the question: What was Redick thinking?

Since trading Anthony Davis, the Lakers have struggled to fill the void at center. Mark Williams could have been the answer, but that trade fell through. Jaxson Hayes is sidelined with a knee injury, leaving limited options. Some might argue he needs more time to adjust, but Miller—and many Lakers fans—aren’t waiting around.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Reggie Miller right about Alex Len, or does Len deserve more time to prove himself?

NBA community agrees with Reggie Miller over Alex Len’s performance: “stinkiest player I’ve ever seen”

One social media user highlighted his praise for Reggie Miller’s remarks by writing, 100000000000% right. len is the stinkiest player ive ever seen been saying that since his debut”.

The former fifth-overall pick’s issues, however, didn’t begin in Los Angeles. Over 686 career games, he’s averaged 6.7 points and 5.3 rebounds—decent but uninspiring. His time in L.A. has been particularly rough, posting just 1.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists on 33.3% shooting. Even worse? He hasn’t hit a single three-pointer or free throw.

One individual wrote, “Koloko should get some run. Len is a roster filler.” If Reggie Miller’s remarks could be considered as an indirect advice to JJ Redick, so can this comment by the NBA fan.

Christian Koloko is currently listed as the last backup for the Lakers’ center position, with Alex Len listed above him. This means that it is not common for Koloko to see some action during matchups. As expected, the player has participated in only 30 games this season. Despite this, with an average of 8.7 minutes of playtime, Koloko has averaged 2.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists. If this isn’t a sign that Koloko should be prioritized over Len, then what is?

One social media user wrote, “Reggie is a nice guy too lol if he’s saying it it’s bad”.

Well, if someone is calling Reggie Miller nice, then he/she certainly isn’t taking his playing days into account. During his Indiana Pacers tenure (1987-2005), the player was one of the best trash-talkers in the NBA. As his former teammate, Austin Croshere, once said, “He loved that people hated him”. Longtime Pacers beat writer Mark Montieth said, “Reggie looked for any grudge he could find. And if he couldn’t find one, he’d create one.”

One social media user wrote, “Reggie Miller is RUDE as hell…but he’s right (laughing emojis)”. Well, if the evidence is there for everyone, then one can only agree. Even if they don’t appreciate how someone else called out the criticism. As Sam Wilson would say, “He’s out of line, but he’s right”.

One individual wrote “Yikes, ruthless”. Well, if you want to make a mark as a game analyst, you have to sometimes be harsh in criticizing a low-performing player, or even calling out a star on any of their bad performances.

Miller has always been blunt—just ask Michael Jordan, whom he famously trash-talked (to his own regret). But as a broadcaster, his job is to call it like he sees it. And right now? He sees Alex Len struggling.

Whether Len responds to the criticism remains to be seen. But if he wants to change the narrative, it starts with proving Miller—and Lakers fans—wrong.
