Bronny James’ debut was expected to be the biggest NBA story of the 2024/25 season. However, the surprise package came in the form of Quincy Olivari. The undrafted point guard turned some heads with his performance against the Golden State Warriors. While LeBron James Jr. scored an astounding 17 points with his dad on the bench, Olivari put up one hell of a show before his idol, Stephen Curry.
The Exhibit 10 signee of the Lakers, led the team with 22 points on 8-for-16 shooting (5-for-9 from 3) and 7 rebounds. Quincy Olivari’s game was impressive enough to bring Curry to compliment him, and that’s when the 23-year-old fanboy shared moments with the sharpshooter. But well, it looks like we’re going to see more of Olivari in the NBA. This is because Rob Pelinka & Co. have sealed the deal with the Xavier alumni!
Shams Charania, ESPN’s Senior Insider, broke the news that the Lakers have picked the Steph Curry fan Quincy Olivari. His agent Darrell Comer revealed that the PG has signed a two-contract and will be a part of the team alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Well, it would’ve been a shock if the front office had chosen to waive Quincy after his strong preseason show. Meanwhile, the squad is letting go of center Colin Castleton.

Olivari reposted Charania’s headlines with the caption: “God, thank u so much #41.” His most-awaited time to shine is finally here. So, we’ll get to see more games between the Dubs and the Lakers of course. But the highlight of those games would be the Curry vs Olivari face-off. Surely, Quincy would be able to keep aside his awestruck moment and focus on picking points for his side. But, well, the Baby-Faced Assassin’s game is mesmerizing enough to distract even the bigger fishes in the NBA’s ocean!
Quincy Olivari receives a warm welcome from his idol as he turns into a full-time NBA star for the Lakers
So, the self-proclaimed biggest fan of Steph Curry broke down at the post-game conference while talking about his idol. We witnessed the star of the show let the overwhelming emotion of closely interacting with his idol take over him. It isn’t a stretch to say that the moment was heart-touching. Quincy Olivari had shared: “I had his jersey, he signed it twice. I used to sleep under that jersey and I want to be like him so bad. So just be able to meet him and be able to have some respect for me.”

But, did the story end here? No. Olivari further shared that Chef Curry gifted him “a pair of shoes and signed them.” It’s not hard to guess how special that must have been for the NBA rookie. Steph is often considered the humblest hooper to ever walk on the court and we’ve seen instances of his humility from time and again. Well, we witnessed another endearing moment following Quincy Olivari’s signing. Who said, you cannot congratulate your rivals? At least, that’s what the 10x NBA All-Star has done. He took to Instagram to share a post of him and the Lakers #41 on the court with the caption: “Real as they come @quincyolivari 🙏🏽.” As expected, Olivari commented below the post, saying, “I appreciate u big dawg.”
