When Bronny James returned to Old Trail School for his second run, he was already a 5th grader. By then, his father, LeBron James, had already turned into a cult figure in Ohio. Now after 10 years, it is Bronny’s turn to truly entertain the Cleveland crowd just like his father used to do. But this will be an emotional event — for the first time, LeBron and Bronny will be gracing the court at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse together as players. Just like Bron’s homecoming, Bronny will also have his moment. After all, LeBron truly belongs to Cleveland and not to LA. This sentiment is held by many in the hoops community, including Lou Williams.
On the Run It Back show, the former NBA star stated, “As much as LeBron James is a Laker, he’s gonna go down as a Cleveland Cavalier.” After 11 seasons and two stints with the Cleveland franchise, there remains no doubt that the 20-time All-Star will be remembered as a Cavs legend more than the Lakers’ when he retires. Lou continued, “We have footage of Bron sitting on the bench with his son, Bronny, and watching him grow up and do these things… This is for the crib, this is for the home crowd. This is where the celebration really takes place.”
Predicting Bronny’s game time, the ex-Clipper said, “He’ll get another 2 or 3 minutes tonight. They’ll get their photo op. They’ll get their opportunity, and I think it’ll be back to business as usual.” Lou further acknowledged the special moment that the father-son duo enjoyed calling it great and noting that it would be witnessed again tonight. But it could be equally disappointing as Bronny’s debut.

“I think from that point on, Bronny goes down to the G League and starts his professional career, and the Lakers continue on,” Lou added. Moreover, he mentioned that if Bronny succeeds in his journey with the South Bay Lakers, it’ll be beneficial for him. However, for now, Lou feels the Lakers will “move on after tonight.”
Lou had previously advised that Bronny should prove himself in the G League rather than appearing for limited minutes with the LA side. While most of the community mirrors that opinion, there’s someone who came forward in support of the point guard.

Since his drafting days, critics have harshly scrutinized Bronny’s basketball skills. His debut with the Lakers for less than three minutes with nothing more than a rebound added more to it. However, Paul George feels it is not fair to him.
“I do think it’s unfair to some degree that you don’t allow him to kind of navigate and find himself,” the Sixers forward recently claimed on Podcast P. “This is a kid we’re talking about who’s trying to find his way in the NBA and trying to live out his dreams. And no one starts out perfect at anything.”

Despite Bronny’s rocky start, George highlights the positive aspect that the 20-year-old is the only player to play alongside his father in the league, which already adds pressure. The critical remarks from analysts and fans only compound this stress. However, the Lakers are on the verge of deciding Bronny’s future, as they reportedly plan to send him to the G League for his development, something that even LeBron supports.
