The initial release of the Los Angeles Lakers injury report sent ripples through the fanbase. After a tough double OT win against the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers’ initial release of the injury report unexpectedly listed LeBron James and Anthony Davis as questionable. LeBron was dealing with left ankle peroneal tendinopathy, while AD was contending with bilateral Achilles tendinopathy. Adding to the roster concerns were the continuity of Cam Reddish, nursing a right ankle sprain, and Gabe Vincent, recovering from left knee surgery.

However, the latest updates from head coach Darvin Ham bring a glimmer of hope. Ham asserts that Anthony Davis will, “in all likelihood,” take the court against the Rockets. What’s more, he hints that LeBron James might join the game, claiming their status will be decided after the game for a back-to-back match against the Atlanta Hawks.

Throughout the season, Davis and James have consistently found their names on the injury report. However, they have admirably taken the court for most of the games, leading the charge for the Lakers. Few of those came against the two victories against the Rockets, with Davis dominating for double-doubles in two victories. However, if he participates in the game, his performance might be hampered by his lingering Achilles injury.

Looking beyond the Rockets matchup, the Lakers face a challenging back-to-back on Tuesday. Considering the demanding schedule and the prolonged reliance on James and Davis to carry the team, they are anticipated to sit out the second leg. The confirmation, however, rests on the final word from Ham, which will only be revealed after the Rockets game at hand.

AD and LeBron James are updated to start against the Rockets

As the game nears, the Lakers’ updates resonate that they are starting D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Taurean Prince, AD, and James.

Last season, the Lakers witnessed a remarkable turnaround after the trade deadline. After being declared out of the playoffs race, they propelled deep into the postseason. A pivotal factor in their resurgence was the introduction of Jarred Vanderbilt into the starting lineup. However, sustaining the same lineup has proven challenging due to persistent injuries. Nevertheless, as the Lakers’ roster gradually returns to full health, Ham is skillfully balancing the team’s rotation. As a result, they have won 6 out of their last 8 games.

While fans would love to see Vando in the starting lineup, Ham recently shared why Prince has been constantly relied upon. Prince’s inclusion brings offensive versatility, particularly in the three-point department. This provides Anthony Davis with more room to navigate through double and triple teams. Furthermore, he can confidently pass it over to Prince for a three-ball.
