The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off one of their best three-game stretches of this season thus far. The latest win against the Golden State Warriors has refueled confidence within the Purple and Gold. It was preceded by a win against a healthy Celtics side. However, even though their record may not reflect it, the Charlotte Hornets are a side fully capable of testing JJ Redick’s evolving plan.

The young team led by an LA guard LaMelo Ball has won four of their last six games. Even with Brandon Miller on the sidelines and Nick Richards’ departure, the Hornets have battled valiantly. Luckily for the Lakers, their two kingpins, Anthony Davis and LeBron James are prepared for the fast-paced and unpredictable Charlotte team!

While the star duo is carrying injuries, both are listed as probable on the injury report, according to Trevor Lane.

LeBron James continues to manage his left foot injury. On the other hand, AD is battling left plantar fasciitis, the same ailment that kept him out of the contest against the Brooklyn Nets. Even with their injuries, though, the ailments aren’t significant enough for the prolific duo to miss the game. However, the same can’t be said about some other key Lakers stars that are in doubt to face the Hornets.

The LA Lakers have the firepower to vanquish the Hornets

Moving on from LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ minor ailments, Rui Hachimura could miss his second straight game. The two-way forward who ranks as the leading 3-point shooter for the Lakers is dealing with a calf injury. The team has listed him as questionable.

Furthermore, Gabe Vincent, a defensive second unit guard, is also questionable because of left knee soreness. Both of them have eventually become integral parts of JJ Redick’s plans. However, the Lakers have the personnel to make up for their absence. Notably, in his first start for the Lakers, Dorian Finney-Smith showed great confidence shooting the ball against the Warriors.

In addition, as far as defending and rebounding athleticism is concerned, JJ Redick will once again deploy Jarred Vanderbilt in short spells. The Lakers forward made his season debut against the Warriors, compiling three steals in his compact stint on the floor. With all that considered, here is how the Purple and Gold could decide to roll against the Hornets.

Although the Hornets rank as the 14th seed in the West, JJ Redick isn’t going to become complacent. His message to the team is simple. Every game is an opportunity to improve. “We just had a really professional approach. We executed at a pretty high level,” the rookie boss said after the Warriors game. In fact, his statement to the media kept revolving around the word ‘professional’.

If short on his usual rotation, the head coach could opt for a shorter lineup, playing his starters for heavy minutes if necessary. However, given the Lakers’ fervor on both sides of the floor over their recent games, they hold the upper hand going up against the Hornets tomorrow. Do you think the LaMelo Ball-led side could upset LeBron James and Co.? Let us know your thoughts below.
