After losing 4 of their last 5 games, the Los Angeles Clippers mount a significant victory on the last leg of their season. In the first of a back-to-back against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Clippers put on a monumental third quarter behind Kawhi Leonard‘s 17-point outburst. However, despite the win, uncertainty remains on the Clippers’ chances of mounting a winning streak. Mostly, due to missing key pieces from the roster; Terance Mann, Norman Powell, and Russell Westbrook.
In the post-game interview after the recent win, LA head coach Tyronn Lue hinted at the possibility of Terance and Norman being cleared to participate in Friday’s rematch against Portland.
Some notes from T Lue
– PG and James minutes were high for playoff prep conditioning reasons. Said he wanted more minutes for them, it wasn’t smart due to margin
– says “good chance” Mann and Powell play Friday, still TBD
– enjoyed defense outside of “last 6:00” of 4Q

Coming into Wednesday’s game, Mann was seen questionable due to shoulder concerns. However, he was soon downgraded to remain out because of a sprain suffered during the team practice a day before. While addition of James Harden and Russell Westbrook has decreased his court time, Mann is a key rotational player for the Clippers, bringing his electric energy to on both ends of the floor.
On the other hand, Powell, recovering from a lower leg contusion, was sidelined upon evaluation. The guard traveled with the team. However, he was soon deemed out, missing his second straight game. Powell brings a similar energy on the court, coupled with his fiery spot up shooting.
Mann, through 61 games, averages 8.3 points for the Clippers on a 48.7% clip. While, Powell puts up 13.9 points on the board, shooting near 49% from the field and 43.5% from the three. As the two receive a hopeful card, it remains to see what the decision holds for Westbrook.
When will Russell Westbrook return to the Clippers? (Updated)

Russ sustained a hand injury while facing his ex-home team Washington Wizards. The early March injury was soon announced as a fracture, forcing the guard to undergo surgery on March 4. With that, there was little to no hope of Russ’ return during the Clippers’ regular season. Moreover, having received no positive updates from coach Lue, there was strong anticipation that Brodie will mark his return during the postseason.
This instance came as the first stretch Westbrook misses games for the Clippers during the 2023-24 season. In his absence, the Clippers have fallen to 5-5 in the 10 games. However, as Powell and Mann step closer to a return, a balance can soon be struck in their roster; gradually welcoming Brodie upon his recovery.
