The Brooklyn Nets shook the NBA with their blockbuster trade with the Golden State Warriors. Shocking? Yes. Unexpected? Not entirely. If not Dennis Schroder, someone else was to make headlines. The German guard is a stellar pick for the Warriors, but his exit has left ripples. Now, his former Nets teammate spills the tea on losing such a key player.
Recently, Dennis Schroder was a big name in the trade market. It came as a shock to many when he hit the trade market. The Nets were truly willing to part ways with their playmaker, but well the deal’s done now and the 31-year-old is in the rival team. Thus, another Brooklyn star Cameron Johnson or Cam Johnson who’s also been quite a name in the bidding wars has expressed his thoughts on Schroder’s exit.
Speaking on The Young Man and The Three podcast, the 28-year-old shared that when you’re on a team you have to “buy-in and take pride in what you’re doing.” He says: “The best way to achieve success on a team level is when that buying and that pride is at an all-time high.” The synergy and camaraderie have to be peaking for the ultimate success. However…

“There’s a lot that gets in the way of it on a professional level and one of those things can be uncertainty of your future. Whether it’s yourself getting traded, whether it’s your teammates getting traded,” Johnson shared. Now that the power forward is also a candidate for trading, he surely does understand how things work around the league. Dennis Schroder’s absence is undoubtedly affecting the Nets lineup. But, it’s a truth the team now has to accept and play along no matter what.
Cam Johnson added: “Anything like that and just those little shreds of doubt can be very difficult for teams to overcome because the margin of error is always small. Really small, it’s a little bit of lack of communication, a little bit of lack of trust, and just a tiny bit of disinterest feelings from one player out of five and how good players are at the professional level you’re going to get exposed.”
Surely, the sudden move in the trade market not just for Brooklyn but for the Bay Area too, has shaken up the NBA scenes. However, for Cam Johnson, he has the Lakers eyeing him desperately. The 17x champs are looking forward to getting the power forward and solidifying their position in the championship race.
On the other hand, Dennis Schroder’s debut game for the Golden State Warriors was nothing less than a nightmare. While his former team is winning games his new team keeps crashing- falling apart would be a better term to explain the Dubs’ situation now.

Keeping Cam Johnson’s “lack of communication, lack of trust, and disinterest,” thought in mind, we have a question. What’s wrong with the Warriors? It’s hard to believe a 12-3 team is now 14-12! Just 2 wins? And no, Dennis Schroder’s addition didn’t help in their recent blowout loss against the Memphis Grizzlies.
For once, if we consider that the German giant was adapting to the new system and gameplay under Steve Kerr, what was the rest of the Warriors doing? It’s truly heartbreaking to see how the team is falling apart. Would you call this a mid-tier performance? It wouldn’t be a stretch at this point. While Dennis Schroder was able to somehow get 5 points, Stephen Curry had the worst game of his career. Two points, 3 rebounds, and one assist. Without Podz, Wiggins, and Kuminga, scoring 93 against the Grizzlies’ 144 would’ve been impossible.
Meanwhile, Schroder’s ex-teammate Cam Johnson is under Rob Pelinka’s radar. The Lakers are once again finding their rhythm back. On one hand where the Dubs have trickled down to the 10th place, the Purple and Gold are 7th. Simply put, both teams have swapped their positions in the Western Conference. It’s surely not the best situation for both teams. But the Warriors are in quicksand and who knows when they’ll retrieve themselves?

So, Dennis Schroder’s exit has left a void in the Brooklyn Nets squad. A player of his caliber surely has a lasting effect on any team he’s associated with. But with the Dubs, the German star has to find his rhythm. Moreover, neither Cam Johnson’s loyalty to the Nets is a secret, nor is the Lakers’ interest in him. So, in the upcoming days not just the games but the trade market is about to get interesting in the NBA.
