Can you believe Steph Curry hates chocolate but can't resist popcorn? What's your guilty pleasure snack?

If Ayesha Curry had stuck to her condition of “No athletes, because they’re arrogant,” Stephen Curry wouldn’t have found his soulmate. And we wouldn’t have one of the most beautiful (inside-out!) NBA couples, either! But then again, I guess Steph lucked out because Ayesha had no idea what the name ‘Steph Curry’ meant to a lot of people.

“She really didn’t know what I did at the time. It was pretty refreshing,” Curry shared to PEOPLE in 2020. Considering the ‘Three-Point God’ found his Goddess, he had no plans of letting her slip through his fingers, even if that meant he had to live his worst nightmare.

So, what was it? Chocolate. Yeah, I’ll let that sink in for a moment. Joining the 13-year-old phenom Jazlyn “Jazzy” Guerra on Jazzys World TV, ‘Chef Curry’ confesses that he hates chocolate. “I hate chocolate. Can’t stand chocolate. Never did. Haven’t ever warmed up to it,” he says as Jazzy, like the majority of us, was left speechless, except for solitary words and phrases.

Going back to how it all connects to Ayesha Curry, well, Steph had the tall task of impressing his future wife’s parents. And one such situation was when Ayesha’s mom baked a chocolate cake for him. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Curry recounts how one thing led to another and he ended up having to eat the one thing he despised.

“It was in a summer and she had a lot of family over. And her mom’s a really good baker and she made this chocolate cake. So, I’m just trying to impress. So, I go there and her mom offered me … I look around and I knew she made it from scratch. I didn’t wanna be disrespectful,” he narrated.

“I’m trying to eat it as fast as I can [because] I just don’t like chocolate at all. That one plate; ate it as fast I could. Thought I was done with that test. She saw, ‘Oh, you want some more? You like it so much, you ate it so fast! You want more?’ And I was like, ”Uhh, I guess so.’,” he said as both of them chuckled, Stephen looking traumatized just recounting the story!

That said, the 36-year-old has another unhealthy obsession.

Stephen Curry might not be too big on sweet, but he certainly loves some salty, buttery goodness

A few of you might have already guessed the answer. But for those who are still confused, it’s popcorn. The man loves the crunchy, salty, buttery snack to the core! We all know how he stocks up on pasta as a pregame meal. But the self-declared “popcorn addict” considers it essential to his game night as much as his ritual.

“If it’s really good, I’m eating it before the game, at halftime and after,” he confessed to Marc Stein in a 2019 New York Times interview. In fact, the first thing he does, especially when the Dubs are on the road, is, “Get off the bus, walk into the locker room, put my stuff down, go straight to the popcorn table.”

Although it might clash with the strict diet the NBA players are supposed to follow, as long as it doesn’t affect his production, the franchise is okay with it. Moreover, he has scientific backing to it, too. Dr. Andy Barr, who founded California-based Innovate Performance, noted, “If that’s the routine and you can’t question the performance, there’s no harm in it. … With the grind of an N.B.A. season, sometimes you have to have a little bit of lenience with things.”

Stephen Curry wholeheartedly agrees. “I consider it a factor in my overall enjoyment of playing in a road environment. If your popcorn is bad, it affects my mood,” he said. He also quelled health concerns with the fact he drinks a lot of water.

What do you think his reaction will be to a chocolate-covered popcorn, though? I mean, we have got to entice him to be a chocolate lover somehow! Or at least, tolerant.
