With all eyes on Paris, the Seine River was lit up with the presence of the best athletes in the world. However, no parade was bigger than the one by the USA as 592 American athletes, the most from any country, arrived at the stadium on the same boat waving the red, white, and blue. And the biggest American flag was being waved by none other than seasoned veteran LeBron James and tennis prodigy Coco Gauff. A moment so big that LBJ was even forced to break a family tradition, hopping on Coco’s TikTok!
For the most part, LeBron stays away from the TikTok realm unless it’s for someone in his family. Usually making cameos on his children’s account, King James has no TikTok posts of his own. However, he surprised everyone during the opening ceremony in Paris as he wholeheartedly made a cameo in Coco’s livestream when she asked him to send a message to her fans. “What up TikTok? We live here in 2024 Paris Games. Here with Coco Gauff in this. Yeahhh!” LBJ yelled in excitement, getting a loud cheer from Coco herself.

It was only a few days before heading to Paris that LeBron and Coco were named the co-flag bearers for the USA troupe. And both superstars expressed their excitement as soon as they heard the news. “It’s special in the fact that you get an opportunity to represent your country, you know, in another fashion you know. I understand how prestigious this moment is and for someone to have to be the flag bearer and wave the flag not only for us as the Men’s National team but for all the Olympians, I hold that with the utmost honor.” James said right after the announcement. Meanwhile, Coco shared the news on her IG story saying, “What an honor… Thank you.”
NBA world in a frenzy after LeBron James-Coco Gauff collaboration
Sure enough, the internet was quick to notice LeBron’s debut on Coco Gauff’s TikTok account, and soon after, messages like “GOAT doing TikToks we made it” started flooding in. Obviously, fans couldn’t contain their excitement because LeBron hardly ever shows up on that app and to see him make an appearance that too while holding an American flag representing his nation, made it a historic moment for everyone.

Meanwhile, another fan was just happy for Coco Gauff seeing her share the screen with one of the country’s legends and holding the flag with him, “Coco has lived her best life today.” Although she wasn’t able to go to the Tokyo Olympics because she tested positive for COVID then, she is finally getting that opportunity in Paris. More importantly, she also became the first US tennis player ever to be the flag bearer.

As expected, whenever LeBron James is in the news, Michael Jordan is somehow brought into the conversation. And the same happened this time as one fan claimed that MJ could never do what LBJ is doing in Paris. While Jordan accomplished everything on the world stage, he never got the opportunity to wave the American flag in the Olympics’ opening ceremony like King James.

One fan, who was in awe of LeBron’s new avatar, even gave him a new nickname “King America” as the four-time champ stood behind Coco in a Captain America pose holding the flag while the tennis star gave an interview.

However, not everyone was pleased with LeBron’s TikTok appearance as one critical fan deemed the cameo “Le’cringy”. But we don’t think a few critics would bother James when he is busy representing his nation on the biggest stage.
