“I think I’ve seen this already before.” Such comments dominated social media, 2 days ago, after Bronny made a memorable chase-down block to prevent more points from dropping in the Wolves‘ favor. While the 20-year-old was unable to add much, the manner in which he prevented Nickeil Alexander-Walker from making a basket instantly drew comparisons with ‘The Block’ aka, the memorable defensive move that LeBron James pulled off in the 2016 Finals. 8 years later, the NBA All-Time lead scorer still hasn’t lost touch!

During the ongoing matchup between the Lakers and the Suns, Devin Booker gained possession at one point in the first quarter and rushed toward the basket. Just as he leaped to score, LeBron came from behind, let out a huge grunt, and slashed the ball into the crowd. Cheers quickly erupted from the crowd while everyone else on the court, including the Laker himself, stood with a neutral expression. When discussing the mood of the internet, however, it was more aligned with that of the folks who occupied the stands!

How did fans react to LeBron James’ ‘chase-down block?’

Bronny had already established his presence with the chase-down block during his debut preseason game with the Lakers. Therefore, instead of comparing LeBron James’ current block with his 2016 one, many from the community took to comparing it with his son’s master move! One fan kicked things off, by replying, “Just like Bronny 2 days ago. Like son, like father.”

Another social media user followed the same path. Having caught a glimpse of the move that the 39-year-old pulled off, he commented, “Looking just like Bronny.” One fan went on to write “It’s time for Daddy to show his son who’s boss.” Looking at how the game is progressing, LeBron James seems to be doing just that. Within halftime, the Lakers star has already made 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. The same has come after the legend made 8-12 field goals, 2-3 three-pointers, and a free throw.

Bronny, who played only 4:09 minutes by half-time, is yet to add any points since his sole field goal attempt went awry. Instead of focusing on LeBron-Bronny comparisons, a netizen was distressed that a major team-up has once again turned into a rivalry. He went on to write, “Why Lebron had to block Book like that? YA’LL ARE USA BROS!!!”

This was a reference to just months ago when both LeBron James and Devin Booker were a part of the Team USA squad that brought the Gold medal home. While Bron won the MVP title, the Suns star himself made significant contributions by averaging 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.

Another fan complimented LeBron James, by stating, “He is one of only athletes that went 1v1 with Father Time and won.” The figure of the old man carrying a scythe and an hourglass has become symbolic in reminding people of the value of time. However, as highlighted by the Akron Beacon Journal, ‘Father Time’ is yet to catch up with the NBA All-Time Scorer!

Overall, the majority of the reactions only saw positive vibes coming out when discussing LeBron and Bronny James. After all, seeing the father-son duo in action is something that they have been waiting for. Though not as long as the 22-year hoops veteran himself, as seen in another clip going viral at the moment.

Viral throwback videos highlight how practice sessions between Bronny and LeBron have changed

Amidst all the praise for LeBron James’ block, social media users had been anticipating another big moment that took place recently. After all, the Lakers-Suns game marked the first time that a father and son duo played together in the NBA, on the same team!

As a result, throwback moments between LeBron and Bronny made waves on the internet. A recently uploaded viral post carried two clips. One featured a young LeBron James practicing on the court while Bronny and Bryce, barely 5 years old, were chasing him around in an attempt to defend. Bronny even rushed from behind as his Dad went towards the basket. Unfortunately, a chase-down block wouldn’t materialize.

The second clip, recorded just a few hours ago, shows just how much time has passed as the 20-year-old is engaging in the same professional practice sessions as his father. If seeing both these moments together isn’t enough to bring out a tear from a hardcore LeBron James fan’s eyes, then nothing may be.

The Lakers-Suns game is just the first amongst many, during which the father-son duo will team up. Whether having LeBron James’ on-court support will be enough for his son’s stats to improve remains to be seen.
