The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Sacramento Kings in what was interim coach Doug Christie’s debut for the Kings. However, Anthony Davis and Co. spoiled his debut by securing a 132-122 win in Saturday’s action. Although LeBron James did not take part in this matchup due to some health issues, a balanced effort from his team got the job done.

Davis had a sizzling night dropping 36 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists on the visitors. After the game, the veteran was seen addressing the media in the locker room, with all seriousness. When Austin Reaves walked into the room flexing and preening after enjoying a great game himself. Anthony Davis couldn’t help but laugh at the 26-year-old’s antics.

Hey stop doing that man,” said Davis with a smile, and further added after a reporter asked if this is they talk to each other, “Ain’t nothing I’m talking like they talk to me, however any type of way it’s just like my kids man.” Davis being a father of three knows all very well about handling kids and let his fatherhood kick in for a second during Reaves’ locker room flexing.

Reaves’ flexing was valid given the Lakers stood on business despite missing LeBron and put up a well-rounded team effort. L.A. now has won back-to-back games as they won four out of their last five and Reaves had been at the heart of it. Furthermore, they are starting to look like a formidable team in the Western Conference. Now, let’s find out why it was a special night for Lakers’ Austin Reaves as they rolled past the Kings.

Reaves dished out a career-high 16 assists on the night! This performance by him was certainly eye-popping, given the number of assists. However, he has shown a continuous upward trajectory throughout the season on the ball, “I don’t think that tonight is an aberration for what he can do when we’re fully healthy,” said Lakers head coach JJ Reddick. This implies he doesn’t view this performance as a one-time thing and expects Reaves to keep up.

Although the ceiling for Austin still remains unknown, games like these are a good reminder of what he can truly do. He still has room to grow and with a good work ethic, he can do wonders. So far in his fourth campaign, Reaves has established himself as a starter in the Lakers roster and has been averaging 17.4 points which is the highest he’s ever managed along with 4.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
