Even with LeBron and AD lighting it up in Paris, Tim Bontemps thinks there’s still a gap. He’s saying the team needs more versatile two-way wings who can make moves on both ends of the floor

“They have put such a poor team around him and Anthony Davis, that they have been an afterthought the vast majority of the run and especially the last few years outside of, again, they had some favorable matchups that got them to the Conference Finals one time; otherwise they’ve been a non-factor.” Bontemps said on hoop collective.

Bontemps called out the Lakers for making some sketchy decisions, like picking D’Angelo Russell over Mike Conley, which could’ve changed their game. “You could go back to not getting Mike Conley instead of D’Angelo Russell in that deal; yeah, there are a hundred things you can point to,” Bontemps said.

But the big deal is that LeBron’s still got the skills to be a game-changer, and with him and AD on the team, it’s mind-boggling why they haven’t made a bigger splash. Even with two of the league’s biggest stars, the Lakers are still falling short, making them look pretty irrelevant and struggling to stay in the mix.
