The Los Angeles Lakers are playing probably their most important game of the tournament. After having already lost their previous three playoff games against the Denver Nuggets, another loss (Game 4) will eliminate the franchise for good. Bearing this in mind, the team’s lead scorer, LeBron James, is pulling out all the moves whilst leading the offensive effort. His most recent move instantly captured the attention of a former Golden State Warriors Executive.

It featured the player making a dash across the half-court and keeping pace with Jamal Murray. As the latter proceeded to drop the ball through the hoop, LeBron instantly jumped and efficiently blocked the shot. This impressed NBA Analyst Bob Myers, who stated, “Chasing down a blocked shot, I remember he did that one time in Oakland”. He was referring to a similar chase-down move made by LBJ in 2016 when he was with the Cavs.

He was facing off against the Golden State Warriors during the finals. Bob Myers was the General Manager of GSW at the time. During the epic game, LeBron’s consistent chase-downs limited his rival’s scoring efforts. And then came a memorable moment in the final two minutes.

Andre Iguodala was proceeding to drop a layup that would break the 89-89 tie in favor of the Warriors. However, LeBron chased him down and blocked the attempt. Considered one of the player’s best ‘clutch’ moments, the move has famously and officially been dubbed as ‘The Block’ by NBA enthusiasts.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t the first repeat of ‘The Block’ that the 39-year-old made during the playoffs. During Game 2, he again targeted Jamal Murray when the latter was going for a layup. Despite the Lakers’ continuous losses, LeBron’s effort in guarding the Nuggets point guard has been nothing short of commendable.

LeBron James drew comparisons between him and Usain Bolt when discussing ‘The Block’

LeBron James blocking Jamal Murray, Bob Myers commenting on the same, took place only two weeks after the Lakers star had released another episode of his recently launched ‘Mind the Game’ Podcast. With JJ Redick joining in as co-host, the duo discussed LeBron’s ‘The Block’ from the 2016 NBA Finals. When asked about his mindset while making that chase down, LBJ stated that he saw the limited window in which he could make the move.

“Like the last leg of the fu****g 4-by-1 relay with like Usain Bolt I was like I gotta fu***** go,” said the four-time NBA champion. Elite gameplay and elite mentality are things the 39-year-old still possesses on a daily basis.
