The fans are flabbergasted, experiencing the historic moment. But what did the superstar feel about it? Not so long ago, the 39-year-old LeBron James manifested to play alongside his son before he called it quits on his illustrious career. And the moment finally arrived tonight during the second quarter of the preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. The duo played together for 4 minutes before Bronny James clocked out after an underwhelming performance.
King James, who had an impressive night on the court had the reporters surrounded following the game. Speaking of his debut with Bronny, ‘Akron Hammer’ described the initial few seconds next to his son, saying, “The moment when we came out of the timeout and he was picking up full court and I went up as my guy was taking the ball. We were standing next to each other and I kinda looked at him and it was like the matrix… It didn’t feel real.”

It seemed as if LeBron James had everything pre-planned. The superstar sat out during the pre-season opener against the Timberwolves, and laced up for the Sunday match-up, ‘co-incidentally’ on Bronny James’ 20th birthday. Importantly, James Jr. started the second quarter ahead of the few rising stars, giving away to a wholesome moment for fans. Even if it was an orchestrated moment, the four minutes the father-son duo shared on the court amounted to pure joy.
Notably, the 4x NBA superstar, who had a full-blown press interaction after the game, couldn’t resist posting another update. James took to his X handle and wrote, “WOW THAT WAS SURREAL!!” We know what it meant for the superstar as every letter on his post had capital letters. Truly a moment to cherish for the James family. But at what cost?
Amid a successful debut with LeBron James, was Bronny effective on court?
The short answer is No. The rising superstar, who turned 20 today, couldn’t bother the scorers, as he went scoreless with 2 rebounds during his 13-minute stay on the court. In the first game, even though Bronny scored only two points, he impressed everyone with his defensive abilities, which included 3 blocks. Whereas tonight, he couldn’t produce much action. Maybe we could blame it on the lack of playtime on the court.

Nevertheless, Bronny seemed unfazed by the performance, as he went for handshakes with a bright smile after losing the game to the Suns. Moreover, speaking at the presser, the youngster showed glimpses of his father’s humor. When a reporter asked if he’d see his father any differently on the court, James Jr. sarcastically replied, “I’m always thinking about, ‘That’s my Dad’ because that’s literally my dad.”

Anyway, the young gun has to prove his place on the side to at least find a spot in the rotation. Especially with Gabe Vincent, Dalton Knecht, and Max Christie in the lineup, it’s quite impossible at this stage for Bronny to cement his position on the stage. As much as joy the duo’s debut brought to the fans, it will double if they perform well together. Let us know your take on the father-son debut!
