The Lakers thrashed the Pelicans in the semi-finals tonight. LA’s win was certain, going into the third quarter. The difference was too much, and the opponent players looked like they were ready to wave the proverbial white flag. Though this meant that their spot in the finals was secured and they are that much closer to IST glory, LeBron James does not seem to be that hyped about the whole situation.

Struggling throughout the start of the season, it has only been the past few games that the Lakers seem to have got into the right headspace.

LeBron James makes light of the Lakers’ In-Season Tournament spot

Talking about another championship experience, LeBron watered it down with, “It’s still December, I’m not getting too crazy about the whole thing… It is another game for us to get better… We have another opportunity to do that.”

The struggles of the Lakers are not unknown. Starting the season with uncertainties, LeBron was often seen doing the lion’s share of work. Though he has never complained, the toll it took on James was clear as day. Not to mention, all the things he has going on in his life as a father also deserve equal, if not more, attention.

So while the In-Season Tournament has its own craze, James has seen enough “crazy” in his life to not get over-excited. Apart from that, James is more interested in how each game presents an opportunity for being better. And that’s what makes it all the more appealing.

James’ performance is in stark contrast to his downplay

While LeBron might view the In-Season Tournament as an arena for improving his game, tonight’s performance sings a different tune. He set the stage for the Lakers’ victory tonight, early on. He put up 30 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and not even a single turnover.

Though the numbers are not anything special individually, together they become yet another record. And yes, the first in NBA history. The “King” has now become the first player in league history to put up at least 30 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes or less. It seems like an everyday thing for Bron.

He just has to have a new record every week or so. With just three weeks left before turning 39, the ‘Akron Hammer’ continues to overpower and overshadow his own achievements. So, the Pacers better not be fooled by his watering down of the whole scenario.
