Doesn’t matter which team LeBron James plays for, he will always be recognized as The Kid from Akron. Growing up in Cleveland and devoting 11 years of his career to its hoops franchise, his loyalty lies with his hometown. So, it is understandable why Bron was left heartbroken upon realizing the current situation the Browns are in.
While the NFL season has only just begun, the Cleveland-based franchise has already lost five of its first six games. And witnessing their 4-game losing streak, one netizen tweeted, “The Cleveland Browns season is already over and it’s not even Halloween yet. Sometimes I feel bad for Browns fans man.”
Obviously, LeBron James, being a Browns fan himself, was devastated by the message and responded, “I hope it’s not but I’m SICK RIGHT NOW!” with a crying and facepalm emoji.

I hope it’s not but I’m SICK RIGHT NOW! 🥺🤦🏾♂️
— LeBron James (@KingJames) October 15, 2024
This past week has been specifically brutal for the Browns fans as the team traded away star Wide Receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills, leaving a massive void in their squad. In return, they only got a next year third-round pick and a seventh-round pick two years from now. Seeing such a lopsided exchange, a surprised Pat McAfee said, “This one feels like a heist.” Even the footballer dropped quite a farewell note on his Instagram stories before heading to his fourth team, penning, “Move or rust.”
If all that wasn’t enough, their Center Nick Harris also suffered an ankle injury during this weekend’s game against the Eagles. Unable to finish the game after getting injured in the first offensive drive, Harris has now been placed on the injured reserve list. As the Browns prepare to face the Bengals this weekend, they are by all means extremely shorthanded following the five-time Pro Bowler’s trade and Nick Harris’ unfortunate injury. No wonder LeBron James feels ‘sick’ seeing his hometown team struggle.
LeBron James was not always a Browns fan, but ONE incident changed his mind

While LeBron is a big Browns fan now, that was not always the case. In fact, he’s publicly revealed his fandom for the Dallas Cowboys on several occasions. However, that changed a few years ago because of something controversial. During an Instagram live with his pal Maverick Carter, LBJ said, “Nah, man. I had to sit out on the Cowboys, man.”
Well, that was because after their players began kneeling during the national anthem ahead of games in protest of police brutality, owner Jerry Jones was against it and clearly stated, “If there is anything disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period. We’re going to respect the flag and I’m going to create the perception of it.”
Sure enough, LeBron James, who constantly speaks up for social justice, did not like Jones’ stance, “There’s just a lot of things that were going on when guys were kneeling. Guys were having freedom of speech and wanting to do it in a very peaceful manner… The organization was like, ‘If you do that around here, then you will never play for this franchise again.’ I just didn’t think that was appropriate.”
And while the 22-season veteran continues to be a fan of some Cowboys players, he is no longer a supporter of the team. Instead, he remarked, “I’m all-in on the Browns!”
He even reaffirmed his love for his hometown team in another podcast last year, “I’m a Browns fan now,” and he would hope that the Cleveland-based franchise turns things around and makes a run for the playoffs despite their recent struggles.
