For over two decades, LeBron James has been shining under the brightest lights in the league, still out there doing windmills at 40 like its nothing. But would the ride have been this smooth without Savannah James holding it down? As Kendrick Perkins once put it, “You have to have someone really, really supportive to play this length of time.” LeBron’s out there making it look easy in the Purple and Gold, but behind the scenes? Savannah’s been the MVP of the James household. So when it comes to making that final call on what his priorities truly will be, LeBron already knows the answer.

While talking to Steve Nash on his Mind The Game podcast, LeBron responded to his co-host’s comment about never leaving a stone unturned by giving credit to the support system that allows him to do so. “I have the luxury of having an unbelievable wife and help around the household, to where they allow me to be able to use all my time while I’m playing the game,” the Lakers star confessed. Moreover, he made it pretty clear what’ll matter most to him after he hangs up his boots.

“When I’m done playing the game, that time will be—priority number one will be my wife,” LeBron said. “It would be my wife, my kids, you know, and I just thank them for allowing me to have me as priority number one while I’ve had this profession.” He knows his family let him put himself and his career first, even when it wasn’t always easy.

“I know it’s not always been, like great roses, and it’s been amazing, but they’ve allowed me to make myself priority number one in my profession—of how I treat my body, how I do things, how the hours that I put into it in order to be the best I can be. And I have to give that back when I’m done,” LeBron stated.

This isn’t anything new. LeBron has always put his family first. He has said it multiple times that Savannah and the kids have let him chase his dreams without worry. So once his NBA chapter wraps up, he’s ready to give them the priority they’ve always given him, something he couldn’t fully do during his playing years. With LeBron James’ time in the tank slowly running out, the frightening question is, when is he finally gonna call it?

No matter how hard as it is for fans to swallow, there’s no denying that LeBron’s legendary career is nearing its final stretch. The buzz around his retirement has been building, and even Shams Charania thinks he’s got maybe two or three more years left in the tank. LeBron has also made one thing clear that he’s not sticking around just to watch the wheels fall off. When it’s time, he’s out. But don’t worry, King James isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, he confirmed it, thanks to a little push from his podcast business partner.

In the first episode of this month’s podcast, Steve Nash pointed out that LeBron has now played longer in the NBA than he hasn’t, with 22 years under his belt since entering at 18. Nash added, “You’ve been in the league now longer than you’ve not been in the league in your life, right? 22… And then you got your whole rest of your life without playing the game—whenever that is.” He then speculated that LeBron wasn’t ready to retire yet, based on what he’s been seeing from him lately. “And I have a hunch it’s not now, because of what I’ve been noticing lately.” LeBron nodded in agreement, clearly hinting that he’s not thinking about stepping away anytime soon.

Is Savannah James the real MVP behind LeBron's success, or is it all King James?

Have an interesting take?

LeBron has been phenomenal this season, bringing his A-game to the hardwood. With impressive averages of 24.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game, it’s clear he’s serious about chasing another championship. And quite frankly, the Lakers certainly have a shot. But there’s also a possibility that if they win, it could mark the end of his career, as his goal is to secure one more title. Do you think that’s in the cards?
