This isn’t the first time that Team USA surprised the world with an overpowered team. The current roster for the Paris Olympics is filled with superstars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and many others. Earlier, the Dream Team and the Redeem Team had a similar reception, heading into the world stage. However, Chris Broussard, veteran Fox Sports Radio analyst, stated that this could be the last chance for Team USA to have a dominating roster.
Amid the intense NBA off-season, the superstars linked up at the national camp ahead of their trip to Paris. Steph marked his attendance as the first one to enter the facility, followed by others. While the reactions were flowing in all directions, celebrating the union, Broussard alongside his podcast mate Rob Parker gave a reality check to the US fans.
It goes without saying that Kevin Durant, LeBron, and Stephen Curry will not play in the next Olympics, considering their age. But, Broussard claimed that Team USA will not have a dominant team anymore, saying, “I think we both are in agreement that this is the last time, I mean, at least for the foreseeable future, that we will be able to ‘Big Boy’ the world.” Following that, he proceeded to speak about the inception of the first ‘Big Boys’, the Dream Team.

Broussard added, “I remember Rob vividly when we started losing with our college guys… We may have lost in ’88… lot of our top college guys at the time were losing and of course in 1992, a couple of years later we say, ‘okay let’s send the big boys, let’s send the big guns’ and we demolish the world with Magic and Jordan and Bird, etc.. and it stayed that way for several years. 2000, we barely won… Lithuania gave us some issues then in a few years we were losing in the international competition and we lost at ’04… Then we ‘big boyed’ him again and sent the Redeem Team. Now, Rob, we’re doing it one more time, but this is probably the last time.”
Can Team USA produce another ‘Big Boys’ team?
The word ‘Big Boy’, as explained by Chris Broussard meant, sending the best players to represent the nation and to dominate on the global stage. Ahead of the current roster, Team USA had a fairly inexperienced side, competing in the 2023 FIBA WC. The tournament ended in an embarrassment, as the team failed to even win the Bronze medal. The team comprised young stars like Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, Anthony Edwards, and Austin Reaves.
Following the embarrassment, LeBron James reportedly assembled a superstar team, which is famously called the ‘Avengers’ in social media. This team has excited fans and assured them that it is a strong contender for the gold medal. Aiming for redemption after the FIBA World Cup loss.

While there isn’t any definitive answer to the question, there is always a possibility to assemble another dominant team. While Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Ant-Man, and Haliburton still have a few more years left in their tank.
