It has been a while since the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade went down. But the buzz surrounding it still hasn’t died. Never told before tidbits keep dropping. But this recent development is huge. Patrick Dumont, the Mavericks’ owner and governor, has finally spoken out after the jaw-dropping trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers. In an interview with the Dallas Morning News, Dumont broke his silence on the blockbuster move that sent shockwaves through the NBA.

On Sunday, Dumont finally broke his silence, and let’s just say, he didn’t sugarcoat a thing. The publication described his tone as “fiery, passionate, and blunt,” and he made it clear that the trade was all about “character” and “culture.”

And LeBron James took it personally. Maybe Michael Jordan and LeBron are in the same tier after all. James has a knack for making his point without saying it outright. Instead of direct shots, he often uses subtle messages, especially when he’s pushing for changes—like tweaking the Lakers’ roster.

On Sunday, he had fans talking again after posting a cryptic message on Instagram. His story featured what’s said to be an old Turkish proverb: “When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn’t become a king. The palace becomes a circus.”

Shade at the Mavs owners? Probably. When Shams first broke the news of the big trade, everyone thought someone had hacked him. Because you don’t let go of a perennial MVP candidate who’s just 25 unless they ask you to! And even then, the franchise tries its best to solve whatever the problem is. Moreover, Mark Cuban even tried to cancel this deal.

Marc Stein revealed that Cuban made a desperate, last-minute attempt to stop the Mavericks from trading Luka. But by the time he stepped in, it was already a done deal.

“Sources say Cuban urged Harrison not to go ahead with the swap … only to find out that the deal had already been sealed with the Lakers by verbal handshake.” reports Stein.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Mavs trade away their future, or is this a masterstroke for team culture?

Have an interesting take?

Back in November 2023, Mark Cuban gave up his majority stake in the Mavericks, but word was he’d still call the shots in basketball operations. Fast forward to the Doncic trade, and it’s clear that’s not the case. Sure, he still holds a minority stake, but his power inside the organization? That’s taken a serious hit.

While Cuban navigates through this tough heartbreak, Instagram isn’t the only social media Bron was active on.

LeBron James pays tribute to a broadcaster on X

LeBron James made sure to pay his respects to broadcasting icon Hubie Brown, who officially called it a career on Sunday. Sitting alongside Mike Breen, Brown wrapped up his final NBA game as the Bucks took on the Sixers.

The tributes poured in from all over the league, and James wasn’t going to miss his chance to show love. He kept his message short but packed with meaning, posting on X (formerly Twitter):

“HUBIE BROWN THE (GOAT)!!!!!!!”

The GOAT part came with an emoji, followed by a bunch of celebratory “raising hands” emojis and a salute to cap it off.

Brown’s impact on the game goes way beyond the broadcast booth. Before he ever called a game, he was a coach—winning an ABA championship with the Kentucky Colonels and later leading the Hawks in the NBA. He won Coach of the Year twice, first in 1978 and again in 2004 after turning the Grizzlies into a 50-win team.

After stepping away from coaching, he became the voice fans grew up listening to, covering NBA Finals games and shaping how the sport was talked about. His contributions landed him in the Hall of Fame in 2005.
