Bronny James‘ collegiate career hasn’t turned out as many expected. Being the son of one of the greatest players in the league, the 19-year-old is on the chopping block for his underwhelming performances recently. To be fair to him, he is coming off a life-threatening injury that had him on the shelf for over four months. The USC freshman suffered a cardiac arrest on July 24, 2023, during a USC practice and subsequently underwent a procedure to treat a congenital heart defect. While the rust may have been a factor, the injury likely also took a toll on his body. However, few were quick to dismiss his talent, attributing his popularity to Pops. But LeBron James and Savannah swatted away all such rumors.

In May of last year, Bronny James unlocked a new milestone. After four productive years at Sierra Canyon, which included captaining a varsity team, winning a state championship, and becoming a McDonald’s All-American, he capped it off by walking across the stage. In a recent video by Uninterrupted, while reflecting on Bronny’s high school journey, James also highlighted his eldest son’s individuality, stating, “He’s just being Bronny. I mean, so, you know, he hasn’t been or trying to be anybody else besides him. And it’s a beautiful thing to witness.”

Meanwhile, Savannah shed light on Bronny’s personal goals and mindset, admitting, “He really wanted to win to make his mark in his senior year, but I think it was a really good journey for him to go on. It was definitely a bittersweet moment for me, watching him play in high school for the last year.” James further elaborated, “Now it’s over; that’s the bitter part, but then the sweet part is like, look how far he has come, and the future is so bright for him.”

Can Bronny turn LeBron James’ NBA dream into reality?

While it might be true that Bronny is trying to make a mark for himself, it is also true that whatever little draft interest he has from teams is due to a presumed package deal with Papa James.

Ever since James mentioned his dream of sharing the main stage with his eldest son before retiring, teams are now in the hunt for Bronny, just so they could also rope in elder James. LeBron inked a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension with the Lakers, which includes a player option for 2024–25. Therefore, he’ll likely exercise that player option to go with the team that drafts Bronny.

However, it is still unclear if Bronny will be able to qualify for the 2024 NBA Draft, considering his averages of 5.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. Do you think Bronny will be able to fulfill his father’s dream? Let us know in the comments!
