LeBron James‘ tenure in the NBA has been a debatable topic over the last couple of years. Within a few weeks, the 4x champ is turning 40. And many wonder how long before the curtains are called for him. At 39, James Sr. is playing like he’s in his, if not rookie, but fourth or fifth NBA season. With back-to-back triple-doubles, scoring over 20 points on average, despite not being in his prime, LeBron James comes to the floor with the same valor he had two decades ago.
However, according to ESPN’s senior insider, Shams Charania, who recently sat down to discuss James’ career timeline with Stephen A. Smith on First Take, made a revelation. You could say it was more of an assumption, but not completely out of line, might we add?
“My sense is, next season could potentially be his last season in the NBA. Could he play another season after that, in 2026, or 2027? Potentially. Bryce James, his youngest son, class of 2025, maybe Bryce James will keep him around an extra year or two,” said Shams Charania.

Bryce James is the King’s youngest son, who is currently 17. So, by the time he turns 19, the minimum age to be drafted, LeBron would be 41 going to 42. How efficient will he be then? The 20x NBA All-Star recently stated that he won’t play until the wheels fall off. So, Bron staying around the league until Bryce’s debut is a question.
LeBron James has achieved every possible accomplishment in the NBA. He is a league legend who might be orbiting around JJ Redick’s master plan with Anthony Davis. Bron is currently more of a supporting player for The Brow, as Reddick is centering his offense around AD. But then again, Bron is keeping his rituals of creating history alive.

Shams Charania mentioned that LeBron James is on a performance spree despite being on the lowest rating of his career. And this has a lot to do with his supporting character role for Anthony Davis. “That’s why when they brought JJ Redick, everyone made that a LeBron James hire,” noted the NBA insider. “But everything was centered around AD and how would he fit into Redick’s offense.” Davis is currently in the orbit of everything, and Bron is finding ways around that.
Meanwhile, LeBron James made history as the oldest player to record three consecutive triple-doubles. James, reflecting on his recent performances, expressed how patience has played a vital role in his game: “Just being very patient, just taking what the defense gives me. I understand the time, the score, and the momentum swings of the game. So, it’s nothing new to me.” Well, the LA Lakers going up against the Grizzlies for the second and not losing this time- credits go to LeBron for that.
