LeBron James is on the verge of reaching yet another historic milestone. The Lakers superstar is only 9 points shy of becoming the first player in NBA history to score 40,000 career points. And King James is likely to reach that mark in his next Lakers appearance. While LeBron continues to achieve great things on the hardwood, he is also making huge strides in the sneaker world.
LeBron has a massive sneaker release coming up next week that is bound to bring back old memories. Nike will globally release the LeBron 4s in the “Fruity Pebbles” colorway on March 7, the National Cereal Day. LeBron’s latest Nike collaboration with “Fruity Pebbles” is a reincarnation of his Player Exclusive LeBron 4 shoes from 2006.
While the sneakers will hit the shelves on Thursday, LeBron got his hands on them a week early. King James pulled up to KITH LA to buy a pair of his latest shoes and enjoy some Kith Treats. “It’s so cold,” LeBron said while admiring his new sneakers.

King James’ latest sneakers got an early launch on March 1, specifically at US Kith Shops and Kith Toronto. The LeBron 4 “Fruity Pebbles” will retail for $250. Nike’s LeBron 4 Menace “Fruity Pebbles” cleats are also set to release on March 7 as part of the same collaboration. In 2006, Nike made the LeBron 4s in a “Fruity Pebbles” colorway because it was King James’ favorite breakfast cereal as a kid. So, the sneaker has great nostalgic value.

The LeBron 4 “Fruity Pebbles” brings back fond memories
When the LeBron 4s were first released in 2006, they instantly became a rage among fans. The sneakers brought back the iconic Foamposite upper that was made famous in the 90s by the Nike Air Foamposite One. LeBron’s 2006 shoe was the first basketball shoe since 2003 to use Foamposite. Nike avoided using the material probably because it was expensive and made the shoes heavy. The LeBron 4s also had a unique design that perfectly combined basketball and streetwear. That made those sneakers a fan favorite.
When LeBron brought out the Player Exclusive Fruity Pebbles colorway during a game in 2006, many fans wanted the sneaker to have a public release. Unfortunately, Nike never released the colorway until this year. LeBron fans can finally get their hands on the iconic basketball shoes. Although most of the shoe’s design remains the same as in 2006, Nike has made slight modifications. The company added “Family Size” on the heel pull tab to honor all the loved ones in the family. There are also a few other branding changes.
