With a career spanning over 21 seasons, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has revolutionized the landscape of the NBA. However, like all things, his career will inevitably come to an end and we are now looking at what is probably the twilight years of that long and illustrious career. More than ever, fans are worried about King James’ continuity with the Lakers. He signed a contract extension with the team in August 2022 for a $97.1 million two-year deal with a $51 million player option.
This will keep the 4X NBA Champion in LA through the 2024-25 season, provided he exercises his player option in the contract’s final year. However, fans of the franchise worry that Bron will probably hit the free agent market in the summer, allowing him to sign with any team.
In this regard, when asked about what he will do with his player option this season, LeBron had only one word to say, revealing that he is torn between which direction to take. The Athletic‘s Jovan Buha shared the conversation on X; he wrote, “LeBron James on if he knows what he’s going to do regarding his player option with the Lakers for next season: “No.”

“Potentially, Bronny ends up on a team that has cap space and they can work some things around to sign LeBron, but in pretty much any scenario that he’d join Bronny on a different team, that’s going to require him taking a substantial pay cut. Maybe he wants to play with him that badly that it’s not about the money and it’s about the experience and helping shepherd his son into his NBA career.”
