It was an exciting time ahead for the family as the lovable daughter was ready to embark on a new journey. Her marriage was hours away and the beaming joy was understandable until the news rocked the whole family and, in turn, the USA, including LeBron James.
Breaking news from New Jersey showed two men on bikes found dead after a drunken driving incident. The victims were identified as NHL player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew. The tragic story made the headlines quickly and social media mourned with the Gaudreaus. Replying to his friend Cuffs The Legend, LeBron James tweeted, “Insane man! I instantly got so down and sad after reading the story. My thoughts and prayers goes out to the Gaudreau family! May Johnny and Matthew fly high, guide/guard and bless their family/s from the heavens above.”

“We send our most heart-felt condolences to his wife Meredith; their children, Noa and Johnny; his parents, Guy and Jane; and sisters Kristen and Katie. And we grieve alongside his teammates, members of the Blue Jackets and Flames organizations, his many friends in hockey and countless fans around the world for whom he created indelible memories on and off the ice,” the NHL wrote in a statement following his demise. The accident occurred on a rural road in Oldmans Township at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, when they were struck by a car. The driver was allegedly drunk and reportedly has been charged with death by auto.
LeBron, being one of the faces of the NBA, not only extended his condolences but also showed once again how being a people’s person is bigger than anything in our uncertain lives. The Lakers star certainly can resonate with the grieving family, as he himself was on the verge of experiencing the same fate of mourning for a loved one, not so long ago.

Bronny’s cardiac arrest put LeBron James and family in a heartbreaking scenario
“Listen … listen to me, get an ambulance here now,” the 911 operator heard from the other side of the line on July 24, 2023. The distress message was sent after Bronny collapsed during a USC practice session. After days of treatment and intensive care, the prayers were finally answered as James Jr. recovered from his dyer situation. But the scare left LeBron James and his family in a vulnerable state as the fear of losing a close one gripped their hearts.
The Gaudreau incident probably reminded LeBron of that day again, something he’d like to lock deep away in his memories. But even before Bronny’s unfortunate debacle, LeBron maintained a giving attitude towards the community. The Akron-born founded The LeBron James Family Foundation in 2004 to make positive changes to the lives of children and youth from an underprivileged background.

The 4-time NBA champ even started the I PROMISE program in 2011, offering tutoring and scholarships to the kids in Akron. LeBron also is a donor to the Boy and Girls Club of America and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. He makes the most of his $1bn plus net worth with various humanitarian causes showing his heart of gold. But today is not a day to celebrate, it’s a day to mourn the loss of the NHL community and the Gaudreau family.
