Bronny James took to Instagram to post pictures from his training sessions and captioned it with the hourglass emoji, “⌛.” He left fans wondering what it could mean, but one thing is clear: a big announcement is coming up. The post was reshared by his parents, LeBron and Savannah James. The NBA Draft for 2024 will start on June 26. Popular NBA analyst Shams Charania believes the chances of Bronny getting picked by the Lakers are very high. Charania also suggested that LeBron James might stay with the team for another two seasons, which would pave the way for a spectacular family union on the court.

As rumors intensified, NBA expert Sean Davis weighed in on the subject, offering alternate approaches that the Lakers may adopt. Although it would be logical to pick Bronny James in the second round, Davis suggested that the team would have more flexibility if they gave him a two-way contract. However, Davis admitted that such a scenario was unlikely given the Lakers’ upcoming schedule of interviews with possible lottery picks.

Insiders predict that the Lakers may select Bronny James with the 56th pick in the 2024 draft. They could utilize their pick on another player by signing him on a two-way contract. If Charania’s claims have any weight, the Lakers would have Bronny and potentially LeBron on their team next season.

LeBron comments on possible return to Lakers

The Lakers don’t want to let go of their star player. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin“The Lakers intend to have LeBron James come back on any term that he wants to.” He continued, “Whether that be a one-year deal, two-year deal, three-year deal, whatever. They’d love to continue to have LeBron James in the purple and gold until he calls it quits, whenever that may be.”

King James hits free agency next season, and the world is his oyster. But he has openly expressed his wishes to stay with Los Angeles. In a post-game interview after the Denver Nuggets loss, he shared his thoughts, “I am a Laker and I’m happy and been very happy being a Laker the last six years and hopefully it stays that way. But I don’t have the answer to how long it is or which uniform I’ll be in. Hopefully it’s with the Lakers. It’s a great organization, so many greats. But we’ll see.” His wishes to share the court with his son may also be an important factor. Last year, in another interview, he expressed his desire to play with Bronny: “I need to be on the floor with my boy.” He added that it could be in the same uniform or a match-up against him.

All fans await a decision; the Lakers and the James family must weigh their options. All eyes are on Los Angeles and LeBron in this off-season. The suspense grows with every rumor and cryptic hint. Rob Pelinka and the Lakers front office will have a busy summer.
