The Los Angeles Lakers recently faced off against the Memphis Grizzles. With this being their second last game before the play-in series, the Lakers wanted to secure a win to get better odds going into the next stage of the tournament. As always, the team’s lead scorer LeBron James leads an effective offensive effort during the course of the clash. His on-court performance was enough to leave the Grizzles’ rookie player, GG Jackson, completely confused.
In the aftermath of the game, Jackson engaged in some Q&A with certain media members. When talking about guarding the Lakers’ star player, the rookie highlighted how “mad” he felt when LeBron kept engaging in switches and “calling up screens”. This reminded him of the mind games that LeBron has used quite often throughout his decades-long NBA career, but something that the Grizzles player may not have been much acquainted with personally.
“Man, he doing that old head stuff”, said Jackson while smiling.

LeBron James’ 41 minute on-court presence allowed him to put out a score of 37 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the game. GG Jackon himself had come out on top, leading the Grizzlies offensive effort with his 31 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Despite the best efforts by Jackson to block LeBron, the latter proceeded to drop 13-20 field goals, 3-7 three pointers and 8-11 field throws.
Given that this was only his second time going up against the 20x NBA All-Star, Jackson realized by the end of the matchup that there is still a lot to be figured out when looking how to guard LeBron.

LeBron James praised GG Jackson in the aftermath of their first matchup
Prior to their recent game, the paths of the oldest and the youngest NBA player first crossed back in late March. Jackson was unable to perform as well as he a few hours, securing only 10 points, 4 rebounds and 0 assists for his team. His individual performance, however, was enough to impress someone like LeBron James. In the aftermath of the game, while engaging in a Q & A session, the 39-year-old discussed his young rival and praised him for getting “better and better” as the regular season progressed.
“I had an opportunity to watch him a lot play at Peach Jam a couple of years ago, playing for Team CP3, and I felt like he was one of the best players at Peach Jam that year,” said LeBron. “Then he went straight to South Carolina and played with my nephew Meechie Johnson and I had the opportunity to see him there. But he’s getting better and better.”

The Grizzlies are neither expected to head to the playoffs nor to the play-in series. With LeBron James’ future currently remaining uncertain, the question remains on whether GG Jackson will ever receive the opportunity to play against the Lakers star again.
